{"id":838,"date":"2012-01-12T15:10:39","date_gmt":"2012-01-12T15:10:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=838"},"modified":"2012-01-12T15:23:00","modified_gmt":"2012-01-12T15:23:00","slug":"an-inuit-mother-comes-to-terms-with-pollution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2012\/01\/an-inuit-mother-comes-to-terms-with-pollution\/","title":{"rendered":"An Inuit mother comes to terms with pollution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Every mother has the right<br \/>\n<!--more-->To Freely give nutrition to<br \/>\nHer infant and since time began<br \/>\nImagine what that day did do<br \/>\nWhen a researcher in a Lab<br \/>\nTold that mother that her breasts<br \/>\ncontain\u00a0 a vile and poisonous cocktail<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">and see her instantly depressed<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">An this has happened to Inuit Mothers<br \/>\nWhose pristine wilderness appears<br \/>\nTo be polluted and very dangerous<br \/>\nIts been happening for many years<br \/>\nAmerican factory chimneys belting<br \/>\nOut the smoke, the PCb&#8217;s<br \/>\nThe mercury, the particulates<br \/>\nThe fire retardents if you please<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Her love was so profoundly perfect<br \/>\nThat relationship so pure<br \/>\nFor those long months in harsh surroundings<br \/>\nBoth of them did endure<br \/>\nA closeness like no other closeness<br \/>\nThe mother feeling each sweet drop<br \/>\nSo richly laced with organo chlorines<br \/>\nMercury it did not stop<br \/>\nPicked up and carried by the winds<br \/>\nFrom chimneys far away<br \/>\nFrom Philadelphia to Nebraska<br \/>\nThat is what they say<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And now a poor young Inuit mother<br \/>\nKnows she has poisoned her dear son<br \/>\nShe knows the dolphin meat she&#8217;s eaten<br \/>\nWas polluted what has she done<br \/>\nTo her unborn child and now the nursing child<br \/>\nshe holds against her breast<br \/>\nAnd still consumes the fat of seals<br \/>\nand Whales, wild food, she feeling blessed<br \/>\nBut now the planets dark clouds hover<br \/>\nTo send the fall out down on where<br \/>\nShe lives and works in the cold arctic<br \/>\nAn indigenous soul feeling despair<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Through absolutely no fault of hers<br \/>\nShe lived a pure and honest life<br \/>\nA hunter gatherer in the Arctic<br \/>\nWhere the climate creates some strife<br \/>\nIn this harsh place sustainably<br \/>\nShe lived her simple life<br \/>\nAnd is paying for the American Dream<br \/>\nThat cuts through her like a knife<br \/>\nHow easy it seemed to burn their filth<br \/>\nTheir radio active waste<br \/>\nTheir pesticides their,\u00a0 mercury<br \/>\nTheir behaviour seems misplaced<br \/>\nThey have taken a pristine wilderness<br \/>\nAnd allowed the dirt to be<br \/>\nHanging in the Arctic air<br \/>\nFor an eternity<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
