Surabaya breeds neglect
\nits government not circumspect
\nheartless thoughtless
\npeople who
\nthink of themselves
\nthey have no clue
\nof the wondrous Tigers in the zoo
\npacing that’s what Tigers do<\/p>\n
the conditions there
\nare worse than sad
\nfilthy, smelly
\nreally bad
\ntainted food
\nall are unwell
\nthis place
\nis clearly
\nworse than Hell<\/p>\n
many have died
\npoisoned by
\nthe pesticides they
\ndo apply
\nthe walls are covered
\nin shit and grime
\ntheir waters rank
\nno where to climb<\/p>\n
its pacing this way pacing that
\nbiting the bars
\nthat’s where they’re at
\nmost of them now at
\ndeath’s door
\nwhich everyone seems to ignore<\/p>\n
a forest creature
\nroams its place
\nfor miles it wanders
\nand does chase
\nbut here inside these
\nprison walls
\nlaments its misery
\nas death calls<\/p>\n
with his sickle
\nat his side
\ngleaming white
\nhe mystified
\nto see such a wondrous
\ncreature who
\nshould be out there
\nin the blue<\/p>\n
instead knocking
\nat death’s
\ndoor
\nyouthful still
\nbut feeling sore
\nbored out of her wondrous mind
\nand very close to going blind<\/p>\n
Zoo’s are places
\nI won’t go
\nwhere wild animals are
\nput on show
\nin tiny places
\nits a sin
\nthere whole lives
\nreduced to a bin
\na prison cell
\ntheir world is screwed
