No travelling circus
\nshould have ever taken on
\nthe role
\nof training the wild animals
\nfor there’s been a heavy toll
\nin casualties and loss of freedom for
\nso many who were taken from their habitat
\nI’m sure<\/p>\n
breaking them and using them
\nor abusing them is wrong
\nparading them in tinsel
\nthat’s not where they belong
\nit never was
\nit was always wrong
\nand circus really does
\nill treat them they can’t help it
\nthere never is a buzz<\/p>\n
carted here and carted there
\nand made to live in trucks
\nfed on god know what each day
\nreally it just sucks
\nI mean such an upheaval
\ntrucked from town to town
\nin all sorts of weathers
\nits bound to get them down<\/p>\n
and then the tricks
\na major deterioration
\nand demoralized of course
\nthey were never designed
\nto do this
\nits not part of their source
\nand so its done with cruelty
\ndown trodden they become
\nplagued by inflammation
\nand their feet are often numb<\/p>\n
not enough activity
\nquiescent and alone
\nlistlessness apparent
\nfor the seeds that have been sown
\nreally in a quandary
\nreally what they should do
\nit does become a stumbling block
\nthat lots of people rue<\/p>\n
and there are lots of antagonists
\nwho feel and see their pain
\ntheir boredom and their unwillingness
\nto just do things again
\nalmost a defiance
\nwhich is often met with pain
\na bull hook on an arthritic leg
\nand so much stress and strain<\/p>\n
but elephants do not forget
\nthey will hold that memory
\nand one day that sad trainer
\nwill pay for it, he’ll be
\ntrodden on or belted with a trunk
\nand serve him right
\nand then of course its more
\nabuse for everyone to fight<\/p>\n
Circus is not for animals
\nand those wild cats and bears
\nhow they ever got permission
\nto use them really scares
\nthe daylights out of me
\nthey’re unsubmissive after all
\nand some can be recalcitrant
\nwhich they ought to be<\/p>\n
the noise of the arena
\nthe band playing so loud
\nthe sawdust and the grease paint
\nand feeling really soured
\nwretchedness comes often
\nadversity does too
\nthe animals a hapless
\nwhen they don’t know
\nwhat to do<\/p>\n
the Government has listened
\nand prepares to ban the use
\nclearly watching video’s
\nthey see the vile abuse
\nit mentally affects them
\nthey realise the pain
\nthe wild one’s suffer
\nand it gets tougher
\nwith very little gain<\/p>\n
circus is passed its sell by date
\nthe toffee apple craze
\nthe candy floss the burgers
\nthere is not that much trade
\nand travelling is laborious
\nand its hard to keep things clean
\nand the animals get impatient
\nand the trainers just get mean<\/p>\n
everyone feels pressure
\ntrying to cut the cost
\nand clearly the wild animals
\nthe voiceless one’s are lost
\ntheir food may not be all that fresh
\ntheir bedding all that clean
\nand all this rough and tumble
\nis not part of their scene<\/p>\n
so the fact that governments are looking
\nto put an end to this
\nis something really that’s long overdue
