Congressman from the house of representatives
\nelected members serving as they do
\nwhat have they to give to animal earthlings
\nthat is heartfelt and is becoming to the wider view
\nthat many have around this present problem
\nhabitat loss is serious and so we
\nknow it to be pertinent for all of us
\nbut none so serious as those now who be
\nout there in the wilds known as the wilderness
\nthe forests and the countryside, we share
\nthey have roamed for centuries
\nliving off the land
\nknowledgeable and instinctively aware<\/p>\n
by their very being, we are culpable
\nfor they live, where they were born
\nit is their place
\ncreation put them there and there
\nthey stay and live their lives
\nthe great and mighty
\ngave them his true grace<\/p>\n
we are powerful, walking upright
\nwe can see
\nover the expanse of time
\nacross the widest sea
\nwe travel we unravel the secrets
\nand we feel
\nwe have the right
\nto muscle in and usurp
\nwhat does appeal<\/p>\n
and so we create conflict
\nbuilding ranchers
\nhomes and towns, and we
\nexplode into environments
\nthe corporate world is at it
\npulling down and tearing constantly
\nforests,mountain areas are exploited
\njungles deserts everywhere we go
\nand what of the indigenous who live there
\nthe earthlings who have always shared the flow<\/p>\n
they are pushed back further from their birthplace
\nback and back they go until they reach
\na no man’s land and still we want so much of that
\nour selfishness it takes us to the breach
\nwe start to see and feel the sense and purpose
\nbut we discard that thought and battle on
\nwhat we want is what we want and others have to realise
\ntheir habitat they came to love is gone<\/p>\n
this is where we err and we forget that we must share
\nthe animals earthlings are created and they must stay where
\nthey are for that’s their modus operandi, so to say
\nwe have the flexibility to not get in their way
\nbut we are lewd in many ways and selfish for what we
\ndo is hunt them, trap them, slaughter them and see
\nanyway to conjure up some reason so that we
\ncan steal the land, the land that’s there’s
\nand they need desperately<\/p>\n
our ploy to lobby congressmen
\nand promise them the earth
\ndig into our pockets
\ntry to increase their girth
\ngive them money so as
\nto help them see our needs
\nand they just might then vote the way
\nwe think
\njust share our seeds<\/p>\n
the grey wolf lives and dies
\nas other wolves do and needs his space
\nsharing it we all can share
\nbut for the human race
\nits hard to share the riches
\nthat creation put before
\nall of us, for what we do
\nis just want more and more<\/p>\n
the animal earthling is not like this
\ninstinct is his law
\nselflessness is his quality
\nit reaches from his core
\nhis values are abundant
\nand he manages his life
\nhe faces joy and loving
\nand extreme forms of strife<\/p>\n
what we now are seeing is the strife
\nthat we have caused
\nhabitats are dwindling
\nwe simply haven’t paused
\nour growth and greed
\nexplodes in almost every place on earth
\nand the guardians are suffering
\nfor we fail to see their worth<\/p>\n
the wheel of life is turning
\nwe all are cogs that drive
\nthis great machine of learning
\nis how we all survive
\neach earthling has its place
\nand we must understand
\nevery inch of everywhere
\nis of course, shared land<\/p>\n
the insects and the reptiles
\nand the carnivores we know
\nevery living specimen
\nthat’s born that lives to grow
\neach sacred incarnation
\neach physical desire
\nis all part of the whole
\nand there’s are no thoughts that are higher<\/p>\n
getting congressmen to vote
\nout earthlings as we do
\nis tantamount to such unfairness
\nand such imbalance through
\nour lack of understanding
\nour corruption in a sense
\nof all we should hold dearly
\nits is our shared recompense<\/p>\n
so we must not go down that evil road
\ninto the sinful where
\nwe kill off other species
\nthose with whom we share
\ncreation accounts for everything
\nwe all must play our part
\nbe part of the eco system
\nruled now from our heart<\/p>\n
our pockets and our cheque accounts
\nare paper from the trees
\nnothing really tangible
\nscattered on the breeze
\nriches what are riches
\nwhen life has ebbed away
\nwe must learn to respect
\nall earthlings
