Having seen
\nsome pf the best farms
\nin the country today
\none can only shudder
\nat the thought that some must
\npay
\ngod knows what
\nto god knows who
\nto carry on the craft
\nof looking after animals
\nand hoping we’re all daft<\/p>\n
some animals now are treated to inadequate
\nconditions
\nbare plastic floors that
\npigs and boars
\nmust think are pure renditions
\nthey cannot bear to walk there
\nand that is all there is
\nso clearly it is painful
\nand somewhat of a swizz<\/p>\n
senselessly designed
\none thinks for other souls to use
\nbut adapted at a later stage
\nand of course then they abuse
\nthe animal but it makes no difference
\nthe animals is there
\nand has to make the best of it
\nbut it really isn’t fair<\/p>\n
its down to lack of planning
\nand knowledge may be too
\nand that uncaring attitude
\nthat you tend to see all through
\nso misery becomes part of their psyche
\nevery day
\nand the farmers do not understand
\nand don’t know what to say<\/p>\n
most of the time its so
\nthey can make a few more quid each day
\nbut they sleep in their king sized bed
\nwith goose feather duvet
\nand drink their remy martin
\nand pass their time away<\/p>\n
the pig is suffering terribly
\nbut no one’s going to care
\nand so his flesh will suffer
\nbut no one is aware
\nthose farms that’s still
\nhave farrowing crates
\nand lots do
\nits a sin
\nto expect a great fat sow
\nto lay like sardines in a tin<\/p>\n
its body so voluminous
\nit pushes through the bars
\nand legs can just get caught or wedged
\nand in moving they must see stars
\nthe pain must be so terrible
\nand with suckling piglit’s too
\nthe discomfort must be extraordinary
\nbut that is what they do<\/p>\n
injuries and prolapse and flies
\njust every where
\ncoughing and spluttering
\nand dying we can share
\neverything s on offer
\neach stage seems to be
\nrepresentative on the farm
\nfor our eyes to see<\/p>\n
And these farms were the best farms
\nput up to win a prize
\ngod now knows what some others are like
\nto realise
\nthat what we’ve so far talked about was the cream
\nof the whole crop
\nand what’s behind closed doors elsewhere
\ngod help us please full stop<\/p>\n
