The story of “Borko”
\nbrings tears to one’s eyes
\nand pain to our hearts
\nwhen we do realise
\nas a baby his owner
\nbeat him so hard
\nthat his young spine was broken
\nand his whole life was scarred<\/p>\n
a Bulgarian Doctor
\na kindly young man
\nadopted sweet “Borko”
\nand his new life began
\nIn Bulgaria clearly
\nthey live in the past
\nanimal lovers
\nare tragically cast<\/p>\n
into oblivion
\nfor its believed
\nthat they are the lowest of low
\nmost aggrieved
\nthat money is wasted on them
\nwhen it could be
\nspent on poor humans
\nand so they agree<\/p>\n
they won’t realise
\nwhat animals do
\nthink, or feel
\nthey do not share
\nthat new view
\nstill in the dark days
\nnumb to such things
\na kind of sick savagery
\nand all that brings<\/p>\n
unable to see
\nthe goodness out there
\ntheir consciousness still
\nin the darkness somewhere
\nand now towards
\nthis really outstanding man
\nin their street
\n vilify him
\nits seems its their plan<\/p>\n
and nothings discreet
\nthey ostracise him
\nfor his meagre concern
\nthey are inveterate’s
\nand cannot discern
\ndeep seated prejudice
\nas we now learn
\nthe Govt they too
\nlost in the mist
\nnot willing really
\nto kind of assist<\/p>\n
he could lose his home
\nto the ignorant spree
\nand “Borko” could once again
\nfind purgatory
\nthe life of this soul
\nhas seen such torrid days
\nfrom his first owner
\nto societies gaze
\na story of sadness
\na story of Pain
\nand what of the doctor
\nis he to gain<\/p>\n
a foothold
\nhis house
\nor will he be thrown
\non the scrapheap of life
\nthat he never had known
\nwill he be able to
\nkeep “Borko” and
\nat some stage
\nencourage the people
