Imagine what it must be like
\nat the moment sleeping rough
\nthe frost is bitter
\nand the wind chill is really tough
\ntoday I drove through Ashridge
\nstar spangled everywhere
\npostcard stuff to look at
\nbut truly what despair<\/p>\n
if you happen to be out in it
\nsleeping in the park
\nor even in the cemetery
\ngoing after dark
\nin some draughty doorway
\nwhere you then bed down
\nfrozen like a lolly
\nin a cupboard out of town<\/p>\n
camped out in the forest
\nlike the wild deer, who
\ndon’t know what its like
\nto feel some warmth
\nit shatters you
\nImagine under your duvet
\nit all feels nice and warm
\nbut outside in a blizzard
\nin a hellish storm<\/p>\n
its hell on earth
\nfor those who do
\nand empty stomachs tend
\nto make you feel so very cold
\nand hopeful that your end
\npossibly comes fast
\nthe homeless tribes
\noh! how they dare
\nno where to wash
\nno where to stay
\nno where to eat
\nor share<\/p>\n
and someone steals
\nyour boots
\nif sleep takes you away
\nits a jungle on the streets
\nfor everywhere you pay
\nnobody will take you in
\nand there’s no where to go
\nmay be the Waitrose dustbin
\nat least there is no snow<\/p>\n
Write to your local councils
\nand advise them
\nthat the poor
\nare freezing on the streets
\nright now
\nwhich I do know for sure
\nwe are not a third world country
\nbut our homeless feel the cold
\nthey need some soup and bread
\nand somewhere dry
