A trip on a train<\/p>\n
from Fairbourne to Barmouth<\/p>\n
through Arthog Community<\/p>\n
In the cool rain<\/p>\n
a narrow gauge steam railway<\/p>\n
Puffing along<\/p>\n
it rattles a bit<\/p>\n
but it seems to belong<\/p>\n
picks up some speed<\/p>\n
takes the tunnel and slows<\/p>\n
the Mawddach \u00a0across from us<\/p>\n
worthy of prose<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The estuary \u00a0widens<\/p>\n
as do the dunes<\/p>\n
the waving grasses<\/p>\n
And the Lagoons<\/p>\n
sea trout and salmon<\/p>\n
And the \u00a0 Irish Sea<\/p>\n
Barmouth \u00a0a \u00a0ferry leaves<\/p>\n
so windy, it be<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
winter is coming<\/p>\n
We\u2019re beginning to feel<\/p>\n
A bleakness<\/p>\n
less people<\/p>\n
Not quite the appeal<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
a vista of \u00a0freshness<\/p>\n
It\u2019s goosebumps \u00a0for me<\/p>\n
down through the sand<\/p>\n
to the sea<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
its perishing, honest<\/p>\n
imagine to fall<\/p>\n
into the sea here<\/p>\n
a biting squall.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
back on the train<\/p>\n
to Fairbourne again<\/p>\n
dragons teeth \u00a0stones<\/p>\n
where tanks dare not go<\/p>\n
McDougalls flour<\/p>\n
created the flow<\/p>\n
And made it a seaside<\/p>\n
a village we know<\/p>\n
he just seemed to think<\/p>\n
it would be lovely<\/p>\n
for families<\/p>\n
the sun<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The beach and the sea<\/p>\n
what this great man<\/p>\n
had done<\/p>\n
A lovely sunspot<\/p>\n
Milton\u2019s paradise found<\/p>\n
It was for real<\/p>\n
Where so many were bound<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
a lovely long beach<\/p>\n
buckets and spades<\/p>\n
sand castles built<\/p>\n
even now<\/p>\n
the dream fades<\/p>\n
as the levels do rise<\/p>\n
Gwynedd Council believes<\/p>\n
Fair bourne \u00a0is losing<\/p>\n
its fight with the sea<\/p>\n
and one day they will wake up<\/p>\n
ingloriously<\/p>\n
submerged<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As sea levels are rising<\/p>\n
flooding could be<\/p>\n
a drastic problem<\/p>\n
apparently<\/p>\n
built on a flood plain<\/p>\n
the marshes are showing<\/p>\n
and possibly<\/p>\n
this place might be swamped<\/p>\n
It\u2019s risks growing<\/p>\n
Fairbourne \u00a0submerged<\/p>\n
indefinately.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
