and across the field green<\/p>\n
the curl of a wood<\/p>\n
looking down on Dagnall<\/p>\n
seemingly could<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
make out this figure<\/p>\n
hunched over \u00a0a car<\/p>\n
as white as the snow<\/p>\n
not very far<\/p>\n
away<\/p>\n
An effeminate creature<\/p>\n
stood still<\/p>\n
Apparently glancing up<\/p>\n
to the hill<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
where the monastery stands and further along<\/p>\n
the tyre place<\/p>\n
and \u00a0other \u00a0allotments belong .<\/p>\n
a willowy stature<\/p>\n
robotic said one<\/p>\n
a resident possibly<\/p>\n
out having fun<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
over the road<\/p>\n
and into the field<\/p>\n
stared at the chalk stream<\/p>\n
somewhat concealed<\/p>\n
across the bridge<\/p>\n
turned around<\/p>\n
and we saw<\/p>\n
that creamy white face<\/p>\n
But no one was sure<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
whether it was human<\/p>\n
or animal \u00a0or<\/p>\n
an apparition<\/p>\n
From long long before<\/p>\n
When the road was a track<\/p>\n
Full of water and mud<\/p>\n
when at night<\/p>\n
all you heard was the rattle and Thud<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
of \u00a0 carts bound for Hemel<\/p>\n
All laden down<\/p>\n
with great bags of fuel<\/p>\n
for selling in town.<\/p>\n
