All those long years ago

\nDinorwig Quarry
\nAnd some 3000 men
\nWorked like the clappers

Snowdonia\u2019s vista
\nHappened around
\nWhere so many sheep
\nGobbled grass so they found
\nTwas there\u2019s that the men
\nDug the great stones and slate
\nIn close knit cottages
\nThe lived out their fate<\/p>\n
Life was real hard
\nAnd the huge waterwheel
\nWelsh slate was wonderful
\nWelsh slate was real
\nIt made for great Rooves
\nFloors and pathways you know
\nRock man and dressers
\nIn the quarry below<\/p>\n
A great community
\nOf hard working souls
\nFrom early to late
\nEach had their roles
\nIn the depths of the countryside
\nWhat they could see
\nWas the wonderful slate
\nAnd it\u2019s Durability <\/p>\n
Walls and long paths
\nRooves and ofcourse
\nFloors paths and everywhere
\nSlate was a force
\nTo be reckoned with
\nReally a durable means
\nOrganically harvested
\nFrom the Northerly scenes
\nhammers and splitters and quarrymen slaved
\nIn the dark in the wet
\nMany were saved
\nby slate
\nSurely hard graft
\nBut these men they knew
\nThat slate was the answer
