Autumn\u2019s just showing us
\nWinter soon will
\nDarken the evenings
\nAnd of course, will chill
\nThe air in the mornings
\nAnd all through the night
\nWhen the wild folk will shiver
\nAnd not with delight<\/p>\n
As leaves turn to golden
\nAnd, onto brown
\nAnd hang in the chill
\nBefore falling down
\nThe nutrient qualities
\nAs they ferment
\nWhere tHey have fallen
\nTruly heaven sent<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t sweep them up
\nLeave them where they fall
\nOn the lawn in the garden
\nIt\u2019s good rule
\nTo let the true nutrients
\nBe absorbed by
\nTime leaf manure
\nIt honestly why<\/p>\n
Insect will chew on them
\nBurying them they
\nWill slowly digest
\nAnd wither away
\nLeaf mulch or mold
\nA miraculous thing
\nGiving back to the earth
\nA reason to sing<\/p>\n
Be leaving in Nature
\nThose residues
\nMaturing enduring
\nA valid fuse
\nThat creates a rich ferment
\nFor stored seeds that be
\nWaiting for Spring
