We are a family
\nAs wild as can be
\nWe live in the forest
\nIt\u2019s our sanctuary
\nExperienced parents
\nWith yes cubs in tow
\nSat in our earth
\nA few feet below<\/p>\n
Autumn chills present
\nTrees losing leaves
\nA cold wind engaging
\nOur spirit achieves
\nMuch in a way
\nIn this earth where we be
\nLiving our life
\nIn the true mystery<\/p>\n
The clipper tee clop
\nOf the riders we hear
\nTally Ho Joe
\nAnd the riches that flow
\nThe yelping of hounds
\nIn their trail hunting spree
\nPuts the fear into us
\nWhere down here we be<\/p>\n
Venturing forth
\nIt\u2019s food that we need
\nA rabbit perhaps
\nWe have to concede
\nIt is our right
\nTo be hunting as well
\nFeeding our family
\nA glorious spell<\/p>\n
We can feel them above
\nThe raucous their weight
\nThe horses the hounds
\nThat old creaking gate
\nFear is upon us
\nThe clatter the crunch
\nIt\u2019s time in the forest
\nAnd it\u2019s time for lunch<\/p>\n
A peck from the vixen
\nA shuffle or two
\nFrom the cubs a few rubs
\nAnd we do what we do
\nOut the back door through the hedges
\nWe go
\nA silent sojourn
\nAs the wind starts to blow<\/p>\n
The neigh of the horses
\nThe yippety high
\nThe squirrel men cometh
\nAll feelings are high
\nWe hear the digging
\nThe cold steel on earth
\nThe blades ever near
\nTo where she gave birth<\/p>\n
Coming back what I found
\nA home torn apart
\nA family all bloodied
\nA broken heart
\nA cold dank divide
\nFur here and there
\nClods busted about
\nIn the winter air<\/p>\n
The trail Hunting mob
\nApparently they
\nWatched as I exited
\nAnd ran away
\nThe hounds were embittered
\nOur scent on their mind
\nMurder committed
\nThe public though blind<\/p>\n
So many foxes
\nAre disturbed every day
\nBroken and bleeding
\nIn a sordid display
\nTorn limb from limb
\nBy the starving hounds who
\nAre neglected by men
\nIt\u2019s what they do<\/p>\n
The laws are broken
\nWildness is lost
\nFamilies of foxes
\nAnd others a cost
\nTo so many who care
\nWho live lives and who die
\nDefending their rights
