Downers and Cripples
\nThey often arrive
\nat the slaughterhouse gates
\nWith a will to survive
\nThey don’t want to die
\nEven factory farmed
\nEven hit with a pitch fork
\nAnd continuously harmed<\/p>\n
They still do appreciate life
\nand the threat
\nOf it being snuffed out
\nIt does make them sweat
\nTheir loves, and their memories
\nTheir routine day
\nOf course they do value
\nIt, if they could say<\/p>\n
Please spare us
\nWe know we are crippled
\nbut we
\nStill prefer to let God
\nTake us rather than thee
\nThen a lead pipe comes down
\nhard on their back
\nIts a vile and a cowardly
\nindiscriminate attack
\nThe poor thing attempts
\nto get up but falls down
\nSo a bill hook is used
\nAnd the man goes to town
\nHooking its arse and tearing it
\nso
\nThe blood and the gore and the pain
\nIts a low
\nlife now employed to bare witness
\nand see
\nWhat happens to downers
\nand cripples like me
\nIts holding up slaughter
\nof those still behind
\nin the tunnel of death
\nWhere the blind lead the blind
\nhung up
\nthroats slit
\nentrails dangling down
\na deluge of blood
\nIn it, a child could drown
\nIts eye sockets rolling
\nThis is what they do
\nAnd where does this meat go
\nIt could come to you
\nIts sent to the schools
\nProcessed and ready
\nFor the country fools
\nIts people, the schools charge
\nfor this kind of fayre
\nAnd all but the few
