Zoo,\u2019s are animal prisons
\nCaged up cruelty
\nCancelling out the wonder
\nIrreverence totally
\nThey lose their state of wonderment
\nThe phenomenon of life
\nWhat\u2019s overwhelmingly wonderful
\nAnd in stead fed So much strife<\/p>\n
A gorilla locked in a concrete pit
\nGiven a branch to hold
\nGorilla\u2019s live in underbrush
\nIn the Congo I am told
\nBeautifully, socially active
\nMysterious and bold<\/p>\n
This soul is trapped
\nIt\u2019s impossible
\nTo be socially active here
\nAlone and very despondent
\nLiving in much fear
\nA wonderful brain and sensitive
\nTo the life around his soul
\nBut stuck in a prison of rocks
\nHe can never be in control<\/p>\n
He uses the branch to try and climb
\nWonder for him is there
\nHis brain is working overtime
\nDespite so much despair
\nHe experiences blankness
\nAn indifference of course
\nHe has an imagination
\nIt\u2019s there it\u2019s at the source<\/p>\n
But Zoos are unimaginative
\nRobotic and artificial
\nKeepers what do they know
\nMost are prejudicial
\nIgnorant and arrogant
\nThey take the thought away
\nThat the wild soul is incredible
\nAnd is hopeful every day<\/p>\n
He wants to escape the boredom
\nThe prison state he feels
\nHe is wholly innocent
\nFreedom it appeals
\nIt\u2019s humbling to sit around
\nThinking everyday
\nResigned to sitting on one\u2019s arse
\nWith no where you can play<\/p>\n
Being fed whatever
\nNo companionship at all
\nNothing around of interest
\nNo stimulus a wall
\n10 feet tall above you
\nIt\u2019s not that you can fly
\nStuck on a ledge forever
