How we take for granted
\nour little feathered friends
\nthough wild they live close by us
\nand the message that that sends
\nis they like the art of singing
\nmelodic through and through
\nthe countryside is a living space
\nbut there are city dwellers too
\nwhich makes you think they are thinking
\nand have,feelings for us too
\nsure some of us feed them
\nbut a lot don’t
\nwhat about you?<\/p>\n

I’m sure as children
\nyou fed the ducks
\nwith bits of old stale bread
\nand they swam in from afar
\nsometimes
\nand many got well fed
\nwe shared and learned to share
\na little with the wilder folk
\nwho sang their songs for nothing
\nand seemingly they spoke<\/p>\n

they quacked
\nand seemed to enjoy it
\nits clear it helped, and we
\ngot satisfaction from the fact
\nthat they came and we could be
\npart of their sweet precious lives
\nif only for a while
\ngo every day and do it
\nand the birds are going to pile<\/p>\n

in on you they’ve told their chums
\nand all sorts will be there
\nfeeding birds
\nis beyond words
\nso please be more aware<\/p>\n

get a plastic bottle
\nshove a wooden spoon through it
\nand a hole above the spoon
\nfill it up with wild bird seed
\nhang it on a tree
\nand in your garden you will hear
\nat a tune<\/p>\n

they will bring the wild flowers
\nshowers will fall and they
\nwill bring the fruit upon their backs
\nevery single day
\nand soon the wild adornments
\nwill show their pretty head
\nand you will have a little splash
\nfrom a brand new wild flower bed<\/p>\n

In India and other places
\nwhere food might not be
\nso evident a few sweet souls
\nprovide it and we see
\nmany of these little friends
\nfly in, so learn to share
\nfor thinking of our
\nfeathered friends
