Late May a time for Peonies
\nThose wondrous blooms
\nFrom bud to flourish
\nA revelation, they
\nHold so much the perfume
\nAnd the glorious display
\nEach bloom an exquisite specimen
\nNotables they be
\nOften the rain can decimate
\nThe years growth violently<\/p>\n
A storm with wind and rain sbout
\nWill break the stems and we
\nSee broken blossoms in the mud
\nThe illogicality
\nOf what you have been building
\nTo empirical acclaim
\nThe certainty of the unshakeable
\nWhere no bloom is the same <\/p>\n
Staking them protects them, then
\nThey will get a sporting chance
\nBut if the rain should turn to hail
\nNot a second glance
\nBodying forth a presence
\nA pageant in a way
\nA source of light and colour
