Marion Evans bought the castle
\nIt sits, looking down
\nOn a gorgeous beach of golden sands
\nAnd the quaintest town
\na charming little voyage of souls
\nPretty painted homes
\nThe estuary is colour matched
\nWith the sky just expect some gnomes
\nWho frequented the headland castle
\n900 years ago
\nWhen the Normans added stone
\nAll Clearly in the know.<\/p>\n
Once a wooden battlement but they
\nBrought common stone
\nto shore
\nUp and protect themselves
\nUp there bleak and raw<\/p>\n
A cavalcade of colour
\nBeach and sea and green
\nFarmland and wild garlic
\nDecorate the scene
\nWe saw a home LLansteffan
\nQuaint and quiet and cool
\nA dancing stream gurgled along
\nAn addition just to hear it\u2019s call
\nA wild and endearing garden
\nWith gunnera growing free
\nBrought we hear from New Zealand
\nAnd now invasively<\/p>\n
Looking like some giant
\nWho liked his crumble sweet
\nHad sown these humble M\u0101ori seeds
\nTo monstrously compete
\nWith local wildness plantain
\nDandelion and more
\nSeveral little orchids too
\nScattered on the floor<\/p>\n
The house set back
\nOf black and white
\nWith gardens to the rear
\nSteps to take you higher
\nContemplatively, to cheer
\nThe soul urge and the heart strings
\nBees and bugs and butterflies
\nA spiritual place of solace
\nSatisfaction wise<\/p>\n
Tucked away in hedge land
\nFeelings come and go
\nA wealth of vital greenery
\nA harmony and flow
\nMutual understanding
\nAnd generous rapport
\nSeveral helpful neighbours
\nKnocking on one\u2019s door<\/p>\n
Youth is what is needed
\nA pliant back or two
\nSwing the sickle heave the spade
\nTo brighten up the view
\nOvergrown and clearly loved
\nNeed helping hands to be
\nGiving some arduous Labour
\nAnd ingenuity.<\/p>\n
A grove of wood and tangle
\nAn eddy of beyond
\nSteps up to a garden
\nI\u2019d need a magic wand
\nTo get up there me thinks today
\nIt\u2019s not an easy trot
\nA lovelier couple you could never meet
\nI liked them both a lot.<\/p>\n
Wales has so much to offer
\nThe people are sublime
\nTheir attitude is helpful
\nAnd On that fair I dine
\nBeing old and antiquated
\nIt\u2019s really good to feel
\nPeople around you will help you
\nThat really does appeal<\/p>\n
The house is rather special
\nThe problem is for me
\nSteep stairs made of concrete
\nIt\u2019s not so easily
\nManageable on the basis
\nOf possibly every day
\nWhich is why I have thought it through
\nand I have to say<\/p>\n
It\u2019s just too much for me, I think
\nI need an easier task
\nBut assuredly I am hoping
\nSomeone soon will ask
\nThem if they can buy their house
\nI am certain that is so
\nSo much land and things to do
\nThat much I do know<\/p>\n
The beach a stones throw, really
\nGolden vibrant sand
\nThe estuary is wonderful
\nOne can understand
\nHow Dylan Thomas loved the place
\nPoets clearly do
\nI hope to retire somewhere in Wales
\nAnd absorb an amazing view<\/p>\n
Might be mountains might be sea
\nMight be woods some where free
\nA slower pace where wildness flows
\nWhere rhyme and reason extends the prose.<\/p>\n
