We love them
\nTruly love them
\nThey are part of family
\nWhen they pass, we sadden
\nIt does happen eventually
\nEven to our human family
\nEventually they die
\nBut they decided what to eat
\nAnd actually know why<\/p>\n
Pet animals are different
\nHuman beings do
\nMake food from the animals
\nOut of the dead it\u2019s true
\nCarnivores that\u2019s humans
\nThey eat the dead of course
\nCows and pigs and sheep and fish
\nSome though won\u2019t eat horse<\/p>\n
But they don\u2019t get a look in
\nMuch of what they eat
\nIs the tin or pouched monstrosities
\nThat in a nutshell cheat
\nMuch is made of render
\nConversion of animals Dead
\nNot very good for humans
\nBut heat treatment it is said<\/p>\n
Heat cook out the pathogens
\nFeather meal and bone
\nBlood and animal plasma
\nFish meal fat to tone
\nOur pussies and our dogs and others
\nAll sorts of recipes
\nValue added materials
\nHopeful to appease<\/p>\n
Our furry friends
\nAnd many waste a lot of it you know
\nMaybe they like the gravy
\nBut a lot we have to throw
\nOut it\u2019s very costly,
\nAnd we pay
\n20% tax extra To the government of the day<\/p>\n
Our animals are given this
\nStuff most every day
\nGoodness knows what\u2019s in the tins
\nBut then of course we pay
\nSome of us buy fresh fish and chicken
\nAnd give that to our pet
\nThey now are getting humane flesh
\nWhich may be dry or wet<\/p>\n
Do we notice they get diseases
\nCancer and of course
\nMany waste the so called meat
\nNot knowing the source
\nThe label tells us one thing
\nThe ingredients no one knows
\nAnd when they pass it\u2019s to the vet
\nWhere each of us then goes.<\/p>\n
We tell ourselves we have to
\nThen put them to sleep
\nActually we assist in killing
\nThat sadness yes we reap
\nSatisfaction possibly knowing that there will
\nBe an end to their suffering
\nWhen the vet assists the kill<\/p>\n
this a time of great reflection
\nWhen we ought to stay
\nCuddle them and tell them
\nAnd show them our dismay
\nAll our pets will perish
\nWe know that we love them we do
\nAnd they love us back
\nAnd hopefully all through<\/p>\n
So we must stay put with them
\nComfort them and say
\nThe vet is going to kill you
\nEternal sleep okay
\nStay with them and watch the death
\nSome will fight it they
\nClamber off the floor I have seen them
\nTrying to get away<\/p>\n
Pet food is like human food
\nNutritionally our care
\nBalanced without chemicals
\nReally we must share
\nThe better much less rendered food
\nFrom really god knows where
\nLove them with a tenderness
\nAnd Just be more aware<\/p>\n
Of what the Corporations do
\nThe stench of rendered meat
\nAnybody working there
\nNo one can compete
\nIt gets into their bodies
\nInto tissue come what may
\nAnd ruins their vitality
