\nCarolyn And Debra
\nAnd of course Kay
\nEach very beautiful
\nEach very calm
\nAll in a way
\nSadly did come to harm<\/p>\n
Debra and Kay
\nWitnessed the crime
\nJolene their step mother
\nTime after time
\nWould shout at the girls
\nAnd this particular day
\nPutting Carolyn\u2019s shoes on
\nIn a very bad way<\/p>\n
Carolyn\u2019s little shoes
\nThey fell on the floor
\nAnd the girls watched
\nAs Jolene\u2019s violence
\nGot more
\nAnd more upsetting
\nThe bruises the slaps
\nAnd the way
\nShe was slammed from a height
\nAnd what can one say<\/p>\n
Little girls watching
\nTheir sister broken
\nSpitefulness maliciousness
\nNothing was spoken
\nA body of bruises
\nThis pretty wee soul
\nBlonde hair and blue eyes
\nA dear little doll<\/p>\n
The girls watched in horror
\nNothing could they do
\nThe trauma was awful
\nAll they did view
\nTheir beautiful sister
\nSmashed onto the floor
\nAn incendiary moment
\nThat lodged in their craw<\/p>\n
Kay she was five
\nDebra was three
\nCarolyn two
\nThe heartlessness view
\nA wrong had been played out
\nA crying shame
\nA wrongheaded moment
\nAnd they knew who to blame<\/p>\n
They bottled it inside
\nIn their waking hours
\nWhich encroached on their psyche
\nWith unfitting powers
\nJolene the step mother
\nHer temper vile
\nIt was unpardonable
\nVictimised bile<\/p>\n
Lies were then told
\nHow she fell on the floor
\nAnd was buried alas
\nThough the world did adore
\nThree hours she spent in an iron lung
\nWe hear
\nTwo painful black eyes
\nA smashed skull
\nThe poor Dear
\nBroken ribs from before
\nAnd bruises all over
\nJolene got away
\nWasn\u2019t charged ever<\/p>\n
Buried in a dress
\nOf yellow with lace
\nOf lavender
\nAnd the prettiest face
\nMany years past
\nThe sisters they grew
\nUp missing Carolyn
\nThinking what should they do
\nThe weight of the loss
\nWas heavy to bear
\nIt took an account
\nThey both so aware<\/p>\n
Carolyn died was murdered that day
\nAnd Jolene she a monster
\nJust got away
\nJust lived her life
\nHer miserable soul
\nAn ugly monster
\nPart of her role
\nThe surviving sisters
\nWere pained by it all
\nKay more emboldened
\nKnew Jolene was a ghoul<\/p>\n
She had got away
\nWith a criminal act
\nTheir dearest sweet sister
\nCouldn\u2019t react
\nThey were not strong enough
\nNothing could they do
\nBut watch Carolyn murdered
\nThat much was true<\/p>\n
Time passed both were upset
\nTortured as well
\nThey knew things were wrong
\nBut they couldn\u2019t tell
\nThe humiliation the utter contempt
\nSpurned by the elders
\nWhen they did attempt
\nTo talk about Carolyn
\nAnd so one day
\nThey went to the police
\nMostly down to Kay
\nBut Debra was on board
\nThey decided they might
\nGet Jolene charged
\nKnowing, what was right<\/p>\n
And so the case happened
\nInvestigations
\nReally the medical records
\nAnd they
\nWhen examined proved carolyn
\nHad been beaten to death
\nWhat else could one say
\nTheir dear little sister
\nA doll cute and pure
\nHad been beaten and killed
\nShe was wholly demure
\nBut lost her life tragically
\nIn the hands of Jolene
\nWhose ugly behaviour
\nWas just plain obscene<\/p>\n
The case went ahead
\nCarolyn was exhumed
\nThe medical records
\nExamined and they
\nAt the court it was proven
\nThe poor little girls
\nWere subjected to hell on earth
\nAnd they did pay<\/p>\n
Jolene was charged
\nShe had murdered the girl
\nThe sisters rewarded
\nTheir lives in a whirl
\nOf confusion and agony
\nThankfully they
\nGot a closure
\nAnd were able to be given a way
\nOf helping Sweet Carolyn
\nTo peacefully
\nRest knowing Jolene
\nWas charged
\nThankfully.<\/p>\n
