Such wildborn courage she displayed
\nshe loved it
\nas the light did fade
\nshe stood there the moon
\nin her sights
\nthe wind in her throat
\non these crazy nights
\nher coat it rippled
\nher pack she saw
\nthe cubs in tow
\ntheir spirit raw
\nover the ridge, that shady ridge
\ndown to the pool she’d go
\nto look at her reflection
\nand
\ndrink that watery snow
\ngive the moon a sideways
\nglance
\nall wondering, and why
\nthis was her place
\nit was where
\nshe met her maker sadly
\nin a violent glare
\na ball of lead
\nfired from a gun
\ntore into her
\nand even spun
\nher around the pain
\nemptied a howl
\na cold dark soul
\na ruptured bowel
\nsilence followed
\nshe was gone
\nshe lay there warm
\nand a bright light shone
\nthe hunter came
\nwith his flash lights, he
\nhad killed a goddess
\nactually
\na soul that had led
\nher pack, and she
\nwould be sorely missed
\nfor eternity<\/p>\n

the hunter
\nhe was a nasty type
\nthe sort of man
\nyou would want to swipe
\nbending down he ran his hand
\nover her fur
\ndid he understand
\nwhat a soul he’d killed
\ndid he heck
\nthen he slipped into the pond
\nand broke his neck
\nkarma I call it
\na fitting end
\nto a nasty bit of work
\nno friend
\nof mine
\nno friend of the wild dark nights
\nno friend of the wolves
\nand no soul that bites
\nthe coward in the dark
\nshot the goddess down
\nand fed the pack
\nwho all went to town<\/p>\n

all they found
\nwas his battered light
\nthey’d eaten his clothes too
