Animals Rights in China
\nis steeped in history
\nof what some would call animal hell
\nand certain misery
\nin open markets they display
\nfrantic victims
\nsuch dismay
\npeering through their rusty bars
\nevidenced by many scars
\nthese animals have
\nbeen bashed about
\nof that there really is no doubt
\ntossed about in filthy crates
\nand a smile or two
\nne’er compensates
\nfor the cruelty that is clearly there
\non all their faces
\nwhich all share<\/p>\n
doleful eyes
\nand injured ears
\nbroken teeth
\nand lots of tears
\nthese hound dogs
\nconsigned to be
\ncooked in soup for
\nsomeone’s tea<\/p>\n
But there seems a new awareness
\nmore people seem to feel
\nthat animals have a place
\nin their lives
\nand not just as a meal<\/p>\n
more have invested in pets
\nand clearly understand
\nthe need to offer kindness
\nand lets hope this does expand<\/p>\n
the feeling towards animals
\non a positive note, for they
\nmight get a better showing
\nand more people might say<\/p>\n
that its wrong to mistreat animals
\nparticularly cats and dogs
\nwho fill these battered cages
\nalong with the odd hogs<\/p>\n
China has been contemplating
\npassing certain laws protecting
\nearthling souls
\nbut really they are struggling
\nwith their culture
\nwondering whether
\nthey can bring in these new controls<\/p>\n
on china at this time and moment
\nin rural area’s, its not the same
\npeople still eat dogs and cats
\nand won’t believe they shouldn’t
\nno matter what the authorities now claim<\/p>\n
but there’s a new emergence
\nAnimals Rights are there
\nentering the new’s affray
\nand are, trying to share<\/p>\n
a little of their passion
\nhopeful they can try
\nand change the system operating
\nand may, by and by<\/p>\n
Tiger Farming
\nBear bile harming
\ncats and dogs and frogs
\npangolin and rhino horn
\nin this great wheel are cogs
\nturning ever slowly
\nbut turning just the same
\nand China might be witnessing
\nan new eternal flame<\/p>\n
the activists are out there
\nsomething’s on the turn
\nthe internet and face book
\nfill souls with concern
\na sea change may be on the cards
\nits tangible and we
\nhear the psyche whirring
\nand may take off finally<\/p>\n
crush video’s the world was shocked
\napparently twas true
\nand it gave some the impetus
\nto really try to do
\neverything in their power
\nto bring those creeps to law
\nand it appears
\nthe animals people can’t ignore<\/p>\n
so lets just wait and listen
\nlet the activists, be
\nthe 1000 dogs caught up in
\nthe chongqing road rage melee
\nthe accident that happened
\nthe police are on the case
\nChina may be changing
\nand may not be the disgrace<\/p>\n
but as I say its huge
\nand what can happen in Beijing
\nis so far from Guangdong
\nand we must
\nreally hope to bring
\nsome semblance and some reason
\nand hope we may succeed
\nin helping legislation
\nand who knows where that
