Modern human beings
\ndo not generally
\nknow pain
\nand when they get a bout of it
\nthere’s pills
\nits a short chain<\/p>\n
a reaction and the mind
\nis calmed
\nand the pain it goes away
\nbut what we see in animals
\nthat some eat
\nis dismay<\/p>\n
ignorance a fore thought
\nand arrogance its friend
\nfor pain is felt by you and I
\nand each, animal friend<\/p>\n
exactly the same relevance
\nthat pain hurts them as well
\nbut often there’s no pill for them
\njust a long journey through hell<\/p>\n
farm animals
\nwild animals
\ncircus
\ntorture, we
\nsee branding and tail docking
\nand teeth clipping
\nregularly<\/p>\n
testicles removed by hand
\nand all of this is done
\nwithout a pill
\ncan you feel that chill?
\nwe now don’t even stun<\/p>\n
the cow
\nthe pig
\nthe sheep
\nthe duck
\nthe chicken
\nthey all go
\nto meet their maker
\nand, when we say
\nwe slit their throats
\nand they know<\/p>\n
they feel the pain
\nthe agony
\nthe loss
\ntheir sentients, too
\nmany of them
\nthe majority in fact
\nmore so than YOU<\/p>\n
for if you are eating animals
\nor wearing some corporate aid
\nthe alaughterhouse or death camp
\nwith its victims on parade<\/p>\n
laboratories are torturing
\nsentient’s every day
\nwe blot it out but without a doubt
\nthey feel the pain and way<\/p>\n
outside our mean threshold
\nbecause its mental too
\nthey give their milk
\ntheir eggs
\ntheir legs
\ntheir lives
\noh! yes they do<\/p>\n
and we exact such torture
\non a sentient’s soul, and they
\nfeel all the pain
\ntake all the strain
