\nShot guns everywhere
\nThe use of lead is terrible
\nIt proves that we don\u2019t care
\nFired into the sky all over
\nWhere ever the bullets fall
\nOr enter animal bodies
\nThey contaminate as a rule<\/p>\n
Uptake is a certainty
\nIn the soil and the water where
\nSerious toxicity happens
\nIt should begin to scare
\nThe living daylights out of us
\nWe should remember we
\nShooting lead around
\nIs dangerous actually<\/p>\n
How they get away with it
\nA mis reckoning for sure
\nIt\u2019s arrogance and it\u2019s ignorance
\nHunters at their core
\nClearly they misjudge their use
\nTheir gung ho attitude
\nWith jaundiced eyes they carry on
\nTheir bigotry is crude<\/p>\n
The EU banned in wetlands
\nSince February this year
\nOn certain edible ducks and geese
\nHens and coots I hear
\nIt\u2019s banned but hunters do use it
\nTheir ignorance startles me
\nFallible and wrong-Headed
\nOr just acting foolishly <\/p>\n
Lead is toxic for hundreds of years
\nThey could be using steel
\nThey are environmentalists
\nAnd I don\u2019t believe that they feel
\nThe importance of the shared environment
\nAffected by
\nAll the shot the hunters send
\nUp into our sky<\/p>\n
Deer shot through with lead are eaten
\nPartridge Grouse Marsh Harrier they
\nButchery doesn\u2019t remove the fragments
\nCarrion anywhere might lay
\nSoil Biota will take up
\nAnd Raptors and the like
\nWe prejudge and our ignorance
\nDiscredits any spike<\/p>\n
I bullet weighing 2.6 grams
\nIn 51000 gallons of water
\nEquals 15 parts per billion
\nThe legal limit for drinking water
\nImagine every shooter
\nAnd every shot that\u2019s fired
\nNot every target is retrieved
\nYou would have to be hard wired<\/p>\n
To believe the threats are not serious
\nTo a sage the rage should be
\nWorrying to say the least
\nDiscounting lunacy
\nThere are children in the forests
\nLike thunderbolts that fall
