I happen to believe
\nSlugs have a memory
\nTrails laid down for many years
\nA state of order possibly
\nMollusks they wander
\nHere and there at night
\nWe can call them nocturnal
\nThey prefer the dark to the light<\/p>\n
Gastropoda of the silver slime
\nA title I hold dear
\nA recent structure at the house
\nLike a conservatory it\u2019s clear
\nUnderneath the back door the animals might try
\nMight attempt an ancestral route
\nWhich Dear friends is why<\/p>\n
A rubber mat might
\nShow signs of the cross cross silver slime
\nThey come Into the home to eat
\nMaybe to pass the time
\nEscape from nocturnal raiders
\nAnd they are gone before the light
\nLeaving behind the tell tale trails
\nEvidence of the night.<\/p>\n
In every garden area
\nSome 20000 slugs
\nTrue a right old army
\nAnd sometimes on our rugs
\nLeft in a kitchen or a garage
\nYou see the trails they made
\nat night
\nYou have to give it to them
