black as the night owls<\/p>\n
black as the sky<\/p>\n
They were \u00a0under the ground sheet<\/p>\n
where they did rely<\/p>\n
on no light to speak of<\/p>\n
and slugs by the tonne<\/p>\n
at their beck<\/p>\n
and call<\/p>\n
So plenty of fun<\/p>\n
but it changed their skin colour<\/p>\n
marvellously so<\/p>\n
as black as pure jet<\/p>\n
and quite a show<\/p>\n
as the ground sheet was lifted<\/p>\n
and the tent laid out flat<\/p>\n
the toads skipped a beat<\/p>\n
knowing where they were at<\/p>\n
under the light and an afternoon sky<\/p>\n
Their skin \u00a0colour change<\/p>\n
The reason \u00a0why<\/p>\n
exuding confidence<\/p>\n
tiny wee toads<\/p>\n
hopped out of the light<\/p>\n
to different abodes<\/p>\n
to a bell tent where they<\/p>\n
collectively squeezed<\/p>\n
from the light of the day<\/p>\n
one by one \u00a0they teased<\/p>\n
their bodies<\/p>\n
Under the ground sheet<\/p>\n
And they<\/p>\n
Were back in their slug store<\/p>\n
in the dark of the day.<\/p>\n
