Evidence of torture
\na big Gorilla’s hand
\npushed through
\nthe cage,
\nher tired old fingers
\ndry and pained
\nan age
\nbruised and torn
\nbut not from natural
\nhabitat, sweet soul
\nimprisoned and what
\ndo you think of that
\nher only role
\nis sitting in her cage
\nand being gawped at
\nstolen from her home
\nher babies dead
\nleft behind without
\ntheir precious mother
\nthats the thoughts
\nshe has now in her head<\/p>\n
grief her feelings adamant
\nthe cruelty
\nhuman beings haven’t got a clue
\nhuman intervention in her life
\nhas been so terrible
\nthis primate
\nreally knows not what to do<\/p>\n
she was better off in Africa
\nthan in a rusty cage
\nin pouring rain
\nthat look in vain
\nshe’ll be here for an age
\nalone, no one to talk to
\nno one to share her woe
\njust a crowd of ignorant humans
\nwho do not want to know<\/p>\n
Zoo’s must really begin to think
\nabout their charges, they
\nshould leave the poor souls
\nin the forest or wherever
\nlet them stay
\nwhere they were
\nnot ship them into far off zoo’s
\nand cage them up like prisoners
\nand then of course refuse<\/p>\n
to accept that what they are doing
\nis against the creature, who
\nwas far off better where they were
