you probably were not aware<\/p>\n
that there was someone who<\/p>\n
could communicate with Ladybirds<\/p>\n
and might reply to you<\/p>\n
there I was imagining<\/p>\n
the study that I had done<\/p>\n
and now I could relate it<\/p>\n
you know to anyone<\/p>\n
and in the Times on Wednesday<\/p>\n
they carried the report<\/p>\n
about so many Ladybirds<\/p>\n
who have given life much thought<\/p>\n
you need to know their story<\/p>\n
and I am just the boy<\/p>\n
to put it down in poetry<\/p>\n
which I hope you will enjoy<\/p>\n
transgenic’s is a frightful thing<\/p>\n
its something I have found<\/p>\n
peeves the female Lady bird<\/p>\n
and covers well new ground<\/p>\n
through aeons they have been sampling<\/p>\n
aphids good and sweet<\/p>\n
and now transgenic potaties abound<\/p>\n
which lots of aphids eat<\/p>\n
on eating them some Lady Birds<\/p>\n
just dont feel at ease<\/p>\n
their \u00a0wings become so heavy<\/p>\n
and they complain of creaking knees<\/p>\n
and there is a dearth of aphids<\/p>\n
upon the plants she feels<\/p>\n
which is causing huge frustration<\/p>\n
and stress too \u00a0she reveals<\/p>\n
on mating disappointment<\/p>\n
its bugged her everyday<\/p>\n
and she’s noticed laying fewer eggs<\/p>\n
and wonders why \u00a0okay<\/p>\n
was it down to her hormones<\/p>\n
thats what she asks of me<\/p>\n
and could it be transgenics<\/p>\n
was a selfish \u00a0theory<\/p>\n
your Scottish Crop Research Group<\/p>\n
in their annual report<\/p>\n
might have just concerned themselves<\/p>\n
as to what the ladies thought<\/p>\n
on swallowing down the aphids<\/p>\n
and tasting their \u00a0fine goo<\/p>\n
they \u00a0were beginning to think the flavour<\/p>\n
wasn’t what they were used to<\/p>\n
reflecting on what happened<\/p>\n
Less eggs they had made<\/p>\n
bright young “with it” Lady Birds<\/p>\n
which had been her stock in trade<\/p>\n
tis stress I now relate to you<\/p>\n
and hopefully you will try<\/p>\n
to put yourself under her spots<\/p>\n
and feel where she does lie<\/p>\n
her future broods are dwindling<\/p>\n
her life expectancy<\/p>\n
is shortened i can now confirm<\/p>\n
dustraught take that from me<\/p>\n
transgenic’s is pure arrogance<\/p>\n
the threat is all who live<\/p>\n
especially when Organics<\/p>\n
has so very much to give.<\/p>\n
