A pretty flower
\nlooks pretty
\neven when the wind does blow
\nwhen the frost and ice
\nis at its worst
\nstill the flower does grow
\na simple form
\na solid base
\na sweeping stem
\na lovely face
\nA pretty flower
\nmade pretty by
\nthe way that she is seen
\nby eyes that love her beauty
\nand enjoy just how serene
\nin Winter she may seemingly
\nfeel tired and look forlorn
\nher purple gown may sort of drown
\nthe memories, of when the corn
\ndazzled us and brought its riches
\nto our festive board
\nbut to those eyes who adore her
\nthey get their just reward
\nthey see the winter season
\nas just part of God’s way
\nthey know her form and splendour
\nand know its here to stay
\nthey know that in the springtime
\nshe will wear that orange plait
\nfor a pretty flower is always
\na pretty flower its that
\nrarity, she shows us
\npoetically sublime
\na pretty flower is pretty
\nevery blooming time
\nand it takes a Bee to realise
\nand of course the Butterfly
\nwho comes to sip the nectar
\nwith a twinkle in his eye
\nwho lodges in her petals
\nin a wondrous new embrace
\nremembering those leggings
\nand all her marvellous grace
\nremembering the sunlight
\nthat picks out every hue
\nrecounting all those lovely smiles
\nthat she would share with you
\nthe nectar sweet creates the dream
\nthat the Butterfly remembers
\neven when the days are short
\nand his fire has reached the embers
\ntis then he holds that memory
\nof his wondrous little flower
\nthat calmed him when he panicked
