It happened in France
\nin a forest, and we
\nsaw that the hunter
\nwas down on one knee
\ncaught in the act
\nof trying to kill
\na deer who went for him
\nand clearly this will<\/p>\n
remind him, and us
\nthat animals do
\nhave a place on this earth
\nand those of us who
\nthink we have the right, to end
\nthis creation
\nby shooting them dead
\nand obtaining salvation
\nhave to realise that
\nthis Deer wasn’t ready
\nhe butted and pounded
\nthe hunter, unsteady<\/p>\n
who broke under pressure
\nand his blood did flow
\nfrom the two flailing legs
\nand the continued blow
\nthe bruises were clearly
\npart of the whole thing
\nthe Deer kept on going
\ngreat pain he did bring<\/p>\n
the fool with the bow
\ntook his hammering well
\nand might at least spend
\na few days in dark hell
\nclearly bones broken
\nand feeling forlorn
\nhe wished, really wished
\nthat he hadn’t been born<\/p>\n
those of us watching
\ndeciding that we
\nwould like to see more of this
\nfor that deer’s qi
\nwas feisty and ready
\nto
\ntake on the world
\nand pick up that hunter
\nand, see him hurled<\/p>\n
into the dark place
\nwhere normally Deer’s
\nhave to go, goes to show
\na sharing of tears<\/p>\n
Whether the hunter felt
\nsome revenge
\nor whether decided to
\ncall it a day
\nfrankly I hope
\nthat the injuries were
\npainful enough that forever
