The Tarkine
\nIts bigger than Sydney
\nA wealth of a wilderness where
\nLife we know about lockdowns
\nAnd the realization thats there
\nWhat its like to just be out in Nature
\nIn The light and the colours we see
\nThe ground under foot
\nEach breath that we take
\nIs real, look and feel every tree
\nEvery inch is alive and its throbbing
\nWith animals insects and birds
\nTangible phenomenal creatures
\nTake a breath
\nAnd think of the words
\nThe spirit the backbone and marrow
\nThe ethos the cast and the hue
\nKinship it really surrounds us
\nThe connection its with all of you
\nEtched on mankind all the life forms
\nParallel journeys to where
\nDeep in the forest brackets they cling
\nTo great trunks and boughs now laid bare
\nA great world of difference before us
\nSea Eagles bonny witH flight
\nAll sorts of Parrots
\nAnd birds on the wing
\nOriginal works of fine art that can sing<\/p>\n
Individuality its everywhere
\nIndustrious ants they amass
\nAnd they share
\nFungi and mosses leaf cutting skills
\nRunning down branches they give me the chills
\nSo many life forms absorbed in it all
\nIn their integrity each one on call
\nGreat coastal inlets sand dunes piled high
\nThe Southern Ocean descends from on high
\nPounding the sands ever finer each day
\nAnd kicking up froth in a massive display<\/p>\n
Ancestral people lived here before
\nThey,hunter gatherers
\nKnowing what for
\nA state of order
\nAnd harmony
\ntheir primary reason
\nProtection and care
\nRespect of surroundings
\nAnd everything there
\nThe Tarkine is massive
\nIts permanence means
\nAn absence of change
\nTo uphold and maintain
\nTo renew and recycle
\nIts all in our face
\nIts been there forever
\nAnd what a disgrace
\nminers certainly
\nTo ditch the soul
\nTo get in and tear down
\nThe trees
\nAn arse ole
\nThinks with their bottom
\nCares nothing for soul
\nJust printing money
\nSo out of control<\/p>\n
A death knell strikes hard
\nA vast tailings dam
\nPolluting the rivers
\nLie a battering ram
\nand the cranes and the saws
\nAnd the dump trucks they will
\nReally destroy all the
\nGodly goodwill<\/p>\n
An absence of form
\nChaos will come
\nMutations distortion
\nWhose banging the drum
\nWhose causing destruction
\nWho blackens the sky
\nDeadens the water
\nThat once did flow by<\/p>\n
sludge heaps of harshness
\nA great blotch on a map
\nCollateral damage
\nNothing comes back
\nLife is cut down a peg
\nDeath stands to climb
\nBack the great Leveller
\nYes for all time<\/p>\n
The girls and boys protest
\nTheir voices ring loud
\nIn the graves of ancestors
\nMany a shroud
\nLifts in the dead of night
\nScreaming is heard
\nBlood letting dire warnings
\nHang on every word.<\/p>\n
