\nSometimes suffer from wild animals
\nHere their crops are on display
\nAnd Elephants and wild boar
\nWhere bewilderment exists
\nWhere habitat loss is prevalent
\nAnd where some ignorance enlists
\nSome rather wicked weaponry
\nOne can buy and
\nmany do
\nSome use explosive powder
\nAnd iron balls and its true
\nPoachers unversed in caring
\nThe wicked who believe
\nThe Untutored and uneducated
\nThat they can achieve
\nSuccess safeguarding food crops
\nAnd do so with cruelty
\nSome Create the \u201cHakka Patas\u201d
\nreally audaciously
\nNot an ounce of understanding
\nJust sneering disrespect
\nFor souls
\nWho walked there long before
\nThe villagers erect
\nTheir fences and their compounds
\nOr the poachers and their war
\nSome make them from fire crackers
\nEmptying powder yes galore
\nStuffing it in melons or pumpkins
\nAnd we see
\nThese improvised techniques of torture
\nExplode disastrously<\/p>\n
When Chewed up and swallowed
\nJust imagine the shock,the injury
\nMouth cavities split ear to ear
\nA slow death there will be
\nIt be the bane of the innocent
\nNursing youngsters who
\nAnxiously devour wild fruits
\nAs many of course do

Youth is often susceptible

\ntreated with abhorrence
\nWho get the evil eye

\nIt happens a lot in Sri Lanka

\nKeralean wickedness
\nSuch irascibility
\nIt conjures up such anger
\nTo a misanthropic high
\nAnd often victims are the young
\nAnd the pregnant

When it happens
\nAnimal Rights
\nPerks up and we see
\nPetitions flying world wide
\nSuch adversity
\nAll the worst intentions
\nIt is a callous thing
\nTo do to our wild animals
\nWho honestly do bring
\nGreat wonder to the planet
\nAnd to humanity
\nImagining the awful pain
\nThe pitilessness we see
\nA slow death, eating, breathing
\nDrinking every way
\nTheir poor mouths torn a\u2019sunder
\nJust like that, that one sad day<\/p>\n
There was quite a spate
\nOf killings 8 in all it was
\nBack in 2020
\nAnd, really because
\nThe victims were all Elephants
\nThe inexperienced
\nWho
\nfell for the improvised weaponry
\nIts unjust of course thats true
\nAnd whoever carried out this evil
\nStill not to this day
\nHas anyone been arrested
\nThey seem to have got away
\nWith carnage on an awful scale
\nTheir irreverence appears
\nTo live within their unmindful state
\nLong after the tears
\nHave dried on the many faces
\nOf Parents who might know
\nWhat became of their youngsters
\nAll those months ago<\/p>\n
Clearly there are many miscreants
\nSteeped in vice and crime
\nUnworthy and graceless
\nThey share the paths of time
\nUnpardonable and inexcusable
\nWe might pass them in the street
\nCriminals backsliding brutal
\nDevils whose hearts beat
\nTo a similar tonal thrust
\nPossibly a few feet
\nWho have alas abandoned
\nAnd now live with their deceit.
\nIn a small rural community
\nPeople must know who
\nPlanted these vile objects
\nBut remain quiet
\nThats my view<\/p>\n
As to so called poachers
\nUnlicensed Hunters they
\nAre arrogant and savage
\nIts how they display
\nThemselves so utterly
\nOn the wrong side of the law
\nThey lack all contrition
\nHardened sinners yea for sure
\nThey probably left the area
\nScarpered,cowards in flight
\nHeartless wicked immoral scum
\nNothing they ever do is right
\nThey should all be banged up in
\nSome Dirty jail
\nWith rats to bite their butts
\nAnd maggots crawling in their ears
