Probably we are the biggest
\nLand animals around
\nAnd therefore the heaviest
\nWalking on the ground
\nOur feet are much more delicate
\nThan some of you presume
\nI am not a taxi
\nSo why do you all assume
\nI am
\nI have a heart and a soul
\nAnd feelings, and I care
\nCompared to a common vehicle
\nTo be seen as such, I dare
\nSay its somewhat ignorant
\nOf humans seemingly
\nAs very social creatures
\nWe love our family<\/p>\n
We are mothers
\nAnd we nurture
\nOur babies have to be
\nSchooled to live
\nWhere humans live
\nOur lands now dreadfully
\nAre becoming ever smaller
\nThe habitat where we
\nWere born in, and our water holes
\nAre scarcer so you see<\/p>\n
Lots of electric fences
\nPut up to keep us out
\nPlaces where we used to eat
\nAre farmed now all about
\nWe are under enormous pressure
\nAnd few of you will see
\nWith all the stress now in our lives
\nWe do not want to be<\/p>\n
Some common mode of transport
\nThats not our godly way
\nThe way we eat and what we eat
\nIs helpful every day
\nwe keep paths clear
\nSpread seeds and fertilise the earth
\nWe teach our children to be good
\nThat really is our worth<\/p>\n
Putting us through torture
\nPhajaan is sophistry
\nYour artfulness is telling
\nThe hurt a constancy
\nThose of us who experience it
\nWe never will forget
\nAnd in our quieter moments
\nThat is when we
\nSet
\nWhen we again remember
\nThe suffering and pain
\nAnd quietly cry a tear or two
\nBecause it was insane<\/p>\n
With a brain as big as our brain
\nWe are mindful of each day
\nOf the humans who don\u2019t want us
\nAnd some drive us away
\nElectric fences rail tracks
\nAnd hunters not to say
\nThe poachers want our Ivory Tusks
\nAnd our skin too so we pay
\nA high price
\ntaken for granted
\nIt really isn\u2019t fair
\nLeave us let us do our bit
\nJust be more aware<\/p>\n
The various lands of Africa
\nAnd India where we
\nLove to walk and eat the tasty
\nGreenery and be
\nAble to continue
\nDespite the rotten mines
\nAll coming soon
\nThe precious earth
\nYou are after
\nAll the signs<\/p>\n
Electric cars
\nAnd digital worlds
\nCall for minerals and
\nOur world is being ruined
\nSome of our beautiful land
\nRich in plants and fungi
\nWith water holes close by
\nAlready we see fences
\nThere and say it with a sigh<\/p>\n
We do not see the sense
\nOf zoo\u2019s or game parks
\nAll they are are prisons
\nAnd again
\nWe are used as taxi\u2019s
\nOr for begging on the road
\nOr hauling logs
\nAnother frightful load<\/p>\n
For us to get to grips with
\nEvery single day
\nThey have even got us painting pictures
\nAnd They starve us
\nThats their way<\/p>\n
Being the biggest land animal
\nAnd the heaviest as well
\nIt really is a downer
\nIts like Living Hell
\nSlaves really to master
\nWho will torture us
\nAnd be
\nAnything but loving
\nIn what is captivity.<\/p>\n
