A farmer of consequence
\nOnce lived with raptures
\nContent in his being
\nBeholding to time
\nIs cows were his buddies
\nThat fed from his hands
\nAll his emotion
\nIn his best laid plans<\/p>\n
His family were gently folk
\nHardworking caring
\nTwo children at school
\nAnd a wife not comparing
\nHerself not with others
\nFulfilled with just being
\nA hard working farmers wife
\nReally all seeing<\/p>\n
Then things took a turn
\nIt got harder and harder
\nTheir allegiance was threatened
\nBy the cows who grew sick
\nThey were kicking up rough
\nIt was not the utopia
\nA tortuous time not one
\nThey might pick<\/p>\n
Then the cows started dying
\nLosing weight martyrdom
\nOne after the other the sickness
\nIt came
\nDespite all the care and all the
\nAttention
\nHow ever many hours
\nSomething\u2019s was to blame<\/p>\n
They were suffering clearly
\nAnd feeling it badly
\nThey went off their food
\nEven though it was prime
\nWilbur was shattered he examined
\nTheir corpses,and one by one
\nBuried them one at a time
\n190 lost over a period
\nIt was such a challenge
\nWhat was he to do
\nRecriminations, an outward pouring
\nBoth he an his wife
\nThey Were suffering too<\/p>\n

And he spoke of his problems
\nAnd asked Rob\u2019s grandmother

\nHe thought would be wise
\nWhen Wilbur got there

\nFrom the farm was a huge site
\nThe Washington Works
\nOf the giant Dupont
\nA chemical company
\nWith a massive footprint
\nWho did what they did
\nAnd what ever they want<\/p>\n
Close to Wilbur\u2019s farm
\nThey established a land fill
\nIt was named DRY Run
\nAnd Dupont was there
\nDumping its rubbish in steel bins
\nAll over
\nSelf regulation they seemed to share
\nReally from that moment
\nEverything faltered
\nThe creek took a turn
\nFor the worst
\nand the farm
\nAnd their health wasn\u2019t good
\nRaising the alarm<\/p>\n
So Rob was appointed
\nTo take on the case
\nIt was not what his firm did
\nGo after and chase
\nCorporate giants for what TAFT
\nDid do
\nWas work on behalf of them
\nOft clueless to
\nThe opportunism
\nThe unscrupulousness
\nDefending them anyway
\nWhatever the mess<\/p>\n
Rob knew the problems
\nAnd basically wanted
\nTo trace the reports
\nThat the EPA wrote
\nFollowing inspections
\nOf the dry run and wilbur\u2019s farm
\nJust Getting sight of the relevant note
\nPrepared by Dupont
\nBy their vets and their agents
\nEverything really appeared cut and dry
\nIt was the farmer
\nDown to his negligence
\nThats why his cows
\nDid inevitably die<\/p>\n
And then it was filed
\nAnd basically forgotten
\nUtter contempt disdain and scorn
\nHe was just worthless
\nA nobody person
\nA loser in fact since
\nThe day he was born<\/p>\n
Rob approached Dupont
\nRequesting their papers
\nHe was not satisfied
\nWith the answer they gave
\nSelf regulation
\nDidn\u2019t prove anything
\nSomething was up
\nAnd the matter was grave<\/p>\n
Wilbur may have been
\nJust a poor farmer
\nBut saw through the humiliation
\nAnd sin
\nHe knew they were liars
\nAnd such puerility
\nTheir filth and waywardness
\nGot under bis skin<\/p>\n
His health was failing
\nAs Rob got sone answers
\nFound out
\nThe chemical that they did use
\nWas called C8
\nLong chain fluoro carbon
\nPFOA
\nIt had been developed
\nTo waterproof tanks
\nAnd it became TEFLON
\nThats when their banks<\/p>\n
Realised certainly this was a winner
\nI BILLION dollars profit a year
\nNon stick pans carpets
\nAnd non creasing clothing
\nAn application
\nThat created such fear
\nSynthetic unbreakable biochemically
\nAn eight carbon chain
\nSo toxic so sad
\nThey had carried out tests
\nAnd knew just how dangerous
\nBut had covered it up
\nSo incredibly bad<\/p>\n
They knew it caused cancer
\nAnd was life threatening
\nAs to the receptors
\nWas what they called
\nThe people who came alas into contact
\nThey were all ignorant
\nAnd not well schooled
\nSo what if they died
\nOr gave birth to mutations
\nThis level of profit
\nCreated their shield
\nParkersburg rose in the rankings
\nThat said
\nThe town worked for Dupont there
\nFrom the power they did wield<\/p>\n
Rob told Dupont
\nHe was going to sue them
\nAnd check out the whole landfill tip
\nAnd whats there
\nDiscovering actually
\nAll of the waste
\nFrom their works site was dug up
\nAnd transported there<\/p>\n
In effect the while town
\nWas in fact being poisoned
\nIt was in the water
\nThat everyone drank
\nIt wasn\u2019t just cows dropping dead
\nThe towns receptors also were dying
\nDupont were it up
\nWhich had led<\/p>\n
To the whole town discovering
\nThe water supply the creeks and the rivers
\nAlso were high
\nIn run off the people many were ill
\nAll Rob\u2019s work took its toll
\nAnd its happening still
\nTEFLON is awful so dangerous it be
\nAnd all of it squirrelled away
\nTragically
\nRob himself suffering poisoning too
\nAnd poor Wilbur died
\nAs dd may who<\/p>\n
Were bought off with money
\nThey paid out a lot
\nGave things for free
\nThey were happy they got
\nAll of the perks
\nCalculating that they
\nWere far better off
\nWith Dupont every day<\/p>\n
As they died of with cancers
\nDid mot add two and two
\nThought well of the giant
\nThat was trying to screw
\nThe life out of all of them
\nAnd tragically
\nIf it were it for Wilbur
\nAnd Rob thankfully<\/p>\n
So many more might have
\nBeen left alone
\nTo not afford medical bills
\nThat had shown
\nUp as this PFoe
\nAccumulates
\nIn body tissues
\nAt alarming rates<\/p>\n
The settlement took control
\nForever
\nOf medical bills
\nAll the tests that were carried out
\nGave the them the chills
\nEveryone tested showed the C8
\nAnd those already sick
\nWere compensated at a generous rate<\/p>\n
Each and every one of them
\nGained settlement too
\nAnd Rob is still at it
\nThough he was poisoned too
\nThis awful pollution
\nCost Dupont its true
\nBut they should have been
\nGiven life sentences too<\/p>\n
Knowingly doing this
\nAn awful sign
\nWhen still to this day
\nTEFLON can be bought on line<\/p>\n
