Milo was a little boy
\nCaught up in net, where joy
\nOnly half on his mothers side
\nAnd where His father really did deride
\nHe told his son that he was sick
\nWith a skin disease
\nAn outrageous trick
\nReally because of his lack of concern
\nWhat others would think
\nIf they were to learn
\nSo they made young Milo
\nThink that he had a skin complaint
\nAnd obviously
\nUsed skin cream day and night
\nAnd couldn\u2019t go out
\nAnd in spite
\nOf the cream he used
\nIt was clear that he
\nWas kept at home
\nIndefinately<\/p>\n
His father was infantile
\nIn his own way
\nEmbarrassed to talk it through
\nAnd really say
\nWhat was wrong why all the cream
\nHis savage temper
\nCould come on stream<\/p>\n
He was cruel to his wife
\nHe knocked her about
\nAnd wouldnt let Milo ever go out
\nHe wanted so much to go to school camp
\nBut that couldn\u2019t happen
\nAnd it all was about<\/p>\n
The skin condition
\nThat the father could not
\nEver get his head around
\nClearly was shot
\nAbout it all actually
\nSulking and causing
\nHis son to mope
\nAnd constantly pausing
\nWith skin creams and soap<\/p>\n
At school he lacked confidence
\nAnd children know
\nMany are sensitive
\nMore so when they grow
\nUp with an allergy
\nOr tend to be
\nAloof and standoffish
\nIts when bullies see
\nA way into psyche\u2019s
\nHow grudges arrive
\nHow ill feelings blossom
\nAnd its hard to survive<\/p>\n
Just being different
\nWhen dolefulness strikes
\nA father whose soulless
\nYou not what he likes
\nYou want to join camp
\nAnd be with your friends
\nBut he wants you home
\nAnd so he sends<\/p>\n
Reasons to stay put
\nTo not mix to be
\nDoing your own thing
\nYour monotony
\nSummer camp it is off limits to you
\nIts best you stay home
\nIts your skin thats his view<\/p>\n
You need to integrate
\nLife socially
\nBut he wants you at home
\nWhere people cant see
\nYour skin disease its a secret affair
\nAnd if you go to camp
\nYou\u2019ll be ridiculed there<\/p>\n
The day of the camp
\nMilo goes off on his own
\nHe needs some friendship
\nHe just feels alone
\nHe catches the bus
\nWalking part of the way
\nIts getting dark
\nAt the end of the day<\/p>\n
A car coming
\nHits him
\nKnocks him to the ground
\nA gypsy lady
\nSeemingly found
\nHim brought him back
\nTo their camp
\nTinkers they
\nOld trucks and vans
\nAnd A warm bed
\nWhere Milo could lay<\/p>\n
Running away from home
\nHe ended there
\nA tinkers place
\nWith a lass who did care
\nShe smoked and she swore
\nA gypsy of sorts
\nA Romany lass
\nWith some obvious thoughts<\/p>\n
His Mother loved him
\nBut his father was bad
\nMentally unstable
\nWhich was all very sad
\nDogged and hard line
\nAnd adamant he
\nKnew more about bringing up children
\nThan she<\/p>\n
He suffered from an illness
\nA psycosis where
\nOn his upper body
\nHe grew such thick hair
\nAs a child it was awfully embarrassing he
\nNeeded the creams
\nIt was how he could be<\/p>\n
Spared all the ribbing
\nChildren get at school
\nFreaks just rejected
\nIt does appal
\nSpurned and dismiss out of hand
\nSeemingly
\nMilo he knew, impulsively<\/p>\n
He was a wolf boy
\nAway with the birds
\nSome might think scary
\nBut he had the words
\nTo explain and a balaclava
\nTo cover his face
\nAnd wearing it
\nAcceptable to the human race<\/p>\n
He lived with the tinkers
\nA while
\nAnd they agreed
\nTo return him home
\nWhich they did with good speed
\nHe went to his mother
\nWho took him away
\nFrom his dad
\nWho was mad
\nThey just drove
\nThat day<\/p>\n
A sweet little tale
\nOf a mother and son
\nWho at the end of the day
\nFound themselves on the run
\nSaddled and thwarted
\nBy impediments they
\nFound reciprocity
