February 2021

Patience is the red kite
Circling above
A keen eye
on the ground below
Acquainted to the Dove
In that you are both birds
Its true
But that is where it ends
A poem from my window
to the world
Where my dear friends

The Corvids,
perched before me
On Thin spirals
all showered
The Copper Beech
its delicateness
Of vibrant twigs
endowed
And on the thicker branches
A jackdaw his head bowed

I feed him every other day
And his friends
the rooks and crows
Who Also come
to be fed by me
So Remarkably he knows
Of all the trees
in this here road
Under mine
they will enjoy
A smorgasbord
of niceties
They bring me wild seeds too
Genuinely thoughtful
In all that they all do

Then there’s a little fellow
A Robin seemingly
Alone he feels in many ways
I look at him
And He feels a bit like me
He sits atop my bird house
And shelters sometimes there
There is always food a plenty
And I know he is aware
Wood Pigeons come, a magpie comes
A squirrel too some days
At night a fox, and lots of other wild souls
So it pays
To talk aloud to all my friends
And write about them too
Attracted by the energy
Thats shared really its true

This lockdown hasn’t phased me
My true friends leave me be
They do not use expletives
Nor get upset with me
They don’t have funny attitudes
In all their world they know
That there is food left out for them
And their wild gifts I let grow

Many plants that I can eat
Later in the year
I do feel that connection
And for me its really clear
Sitting in my window
Every single day
Listening to soft raga’s
And watching my friends play

There is kind of guiltlessness
An inoffensive state
An immaculate creation
No matter what the date
The callow wildness surfaces
The delightful dew drops they
Hang from the sprouting fuchsia
In a natural light display

The Rosemary still flowering
Light lilac of hue
Surely its unusual
What it appears to do
I feel, that it exudes real joy
Its been left, to wind its way
Up Through the paving circle
And Its smiling everyday

The criss cross
of the telephone wires
Vibrate with wind they do
Imaginary symphonies
To those who know how true
And the sun creates
a bluer sky
And my desk
is bathed in light
There is really
nothing more healing
Than To work here
day and night

Some Snow drops nestled
near the Cherry
Out of the darkly
mould now lean
Pure white buds
on tiny stems
And delicate bells
of vernal green
The fairest maids
you will ever see
Sharing their eternal
joy with me

To be a druid
Why not I say
To respect the seasons
And make my way
Into the future
making amends
Seeing the fey
Who quietly go
About their business
As we know

Alchemy is everywhere
Gods and goddesses
Powers we share
A deference for all things wild
White of hair
heart of child
In many extraordinary ways
The magic cast
Now all our days

Share reverence for the energy
The food we share
Lets constantly
Feel the seasons
In all we do
The wheel of life
Is turning too
And we must turn
Eat seasonably
What grows today
We eat and be
In tune with Nature
Our Mother she
Will then respond
And be kind to thee
Fair mindedness comes
From a thoughtful mind
An unbiased heart
Hence the undersigned

Is working on the path ahead that final journey
To the Summerlands

Patience is the red kite
