\na family man

\nWas the reason why
\nHe was mad at me
\nAnd didnt want to be
\nLumbered with a child
\nA girl too
\nDrove him wild
\nHow fortunate I was to be
\nIn such marvellous company<\/p>\n
That was Jack Mckane
\nA saint in every way
\nHe was like a dad to me
\nEvery single day
\nA council house
\nThree bedrooms
\nSix kids and now me
\nHis heart was big and pumping
\nOut love and constancy<\/p>\n
He would give you
\nHis last penny
\nGreat integrity
\nHigh – principled
\nAnd philanthropic
\nAnd he was good to me
\nHe loved to bet on horses
\nStudying their form
\nFull of Absolute genuiness
\nAnd always very warm<\/p>\n
To me he really love my Nan
\nAnd when she passed away
\nIt really struck him rigid
\nHe cried a lot they say
\nFor ages he played Boule
\nMind you after his op
\nHe found
\nHe really had to give it up
\nIt was harder to get off the ground<\/p>\n
When he was younger he was fit
\nAnd laboured day and night
\nWorking on the building
\nOn the building site
\nClimbing up the ladders
\nCarrying hods of bricks
\nHe really worked his socks off
\nAnd knocked himself for six<\/p>\n
He had two other brothers
\nBilly worked at the Maze
\nPrison nigh on forty years
\nAnd the eldest Ernie
\nPays his respects
\nHe was a farmer
\nA dedicated guy
\nPutting in the hard graft too
\nUnderneath the sky<\/p>\n
In all some 17 Grand children
\nAnd, 11 Great
\nAnd to this day they visit
\nHis family ties all rate
\nHe loves a drop of alcohol
\nAnd any of us who go
\nAnd see him in his Martham Place
\nTake him off to show
\nHim a day having lunch and a beer
\nHe is a jolly soul
\nGetting a bit past it now
\nBut equal to the role<\/p>\n
He tells us all his stories
\nThe time he was a caddy
\nAnd drank out of a trophy cup
\nBing Crosby won
\nA laddie
\nThen but really proud of that
\nA Leo typically
\nAnd although I was a cast off
\nHe loved me constantly<\/p>\n
Like many folk
\nHe is inclined to watch
\nThe BBC
\nAll that Lefty nonsense
\nHe takes in frantically
\nHe is fearful of the Hong Kong Flu
\nAnd seemingly feels he
\nHas to remain on his own
\nMasked up and drinking tea<\/p>\n
He will be alone this Christmas
\nBut his stories keep him going
\nHe knows that we all love him so
\nAnd in all of us its growing
\nAnd all of us feel real upset
\nWe cannot go and see
