A walker in Powys
\nHad found her
\nA Golden Eagle
\nAnd she
\nwas dead in a river
\nThough had received shots
\nA wonderful bird
\nJust to see<\/p>\n
Flying, a wingspan
\nTo dream of
\nA Great beak and talons
\nTo match
\nA predator who
\nHunts out of the blue
\nAnd no other bird
\nIs a patch<\/p>\n
On an Eagle
\nIn this rural heartland
\nWhere mountains and craggy caves
\nHide
\nThe National Park
\nWhere she made her mark
\nIn the thermals of course
\nShe would ride<\/p>\n
She escaped almost
\n12 long years earlier
\nThe tragedy these days
\nIs some
\nHunters are just always
\nReady
\nTo down the wild souls
\nJust so numb<\/p>\n
To the godliness
\nAnd to the miracle
\nOf Golden Eagles that fly
\nRaptors are feeling the pressure
\nFrom the gamekeepers who
\nAre Protecting their sport
\nWhich is why<\/p>\n
To have lived all this time
\nAnd a few months before
\nBeen featured we hear
\nOn Tv
\nIn a film \u201cthe last wilderness\u201d
\nWhere she did spread
\nHer wings just a miracle
\nAnd now she is dead<\/p>\n
Live and dead bodies
\nWould have been on her table
\nA beautiful bird so serene
\nRabbits and Hares and Grouse
\nWould be usual
\nAnd Ptarmigan too
\nMight have been<\/p>\n
But now she was lying
\nDoused in the water
\nFungal myccosis
\nDehydrated too
\nA beautiful spirit
\nA wandering vagabond
\nAt the Rainbow Bridge
