\nWhy should they be
\nLooked down upon
\nIf it were me
\nA women found with
\nA healing streak
\nUsing herbs and potions
\nI would surely seek
\nOut her knowledge
\nFor let me say

\nCompared to today
\nWhere sadly BIG PHARMA
\nWhose arrogance rules
\nAnd ignorance surely
\nSuggests that more fools
\nDistanced from herbals
\nDistanced from thought
\nWhere there is less reasoning
\nFrom what is bought<\/p>\n
The witch or the healer
\nIs a positive sign
\nThe church and the ignorant
\nTry to malign
\nMen often jealous
\nOf uncertainty
\nFallible brutes
\nWho fail miserably
\nOld houses have stood
\nThere through storm
\nAnd through flood
\nIt was thought a live cat
\nIn the loft space
\nOr hearth
\nRetaining the positive
\nAnd down that path
\nMany might go
\nThinking witches again
\nWould be frightened away
\nAnd thereby refrain<\/p>\n
From going there
\nBut what we ought to see
\nIs cats are inquisitive
\nAnd normally
\nhide
\nIn dark places in attics
\nAnd holes
\nAnd so might get trapped somewhere
\nAnd starve
\nAs to roles
\nfor demons and ghosties
\nAnd witches galore
\nHealing women
\nI love them
\nThus I am sure
\nA horses skull
\nAnd pairs of old shoes
\nUnder the stairs
\nPeople just lose
\nthem
\nIn those dark spaces
\ncollections of things
\nWhere rubbish is left
\nFor the rag and bone kings
\nIts illogicality
\nNot intuition
\nIts born out of ignorance
\nAnd the transmission
\nOf sophistry really
\nAn unfounded thought
\nOf the church and the Bible
\nBashers who taught<\/p>\n
The poor and the frightened
\nAnd now today
\nIf you talk up the ghosties
\nThen people will pay
\nMore for a house
\nWith a resident ghost
