\nOf skin and tone banality
\nColonial time saw fairer skin
\nAnd that is where it did begin
\nNow Indian girls want to look fair
\nIts seen as lovely
\nBecause its rare
\nThe eye of the beholder seemingly
\nIs not what Bollywood wants to see<\/p>\n
Creams and potions apparently
\nThat whiten and lighten
\nCan really be
\nThe difference
\nIn their world today
\nLighter or brighter
\nSo they say<\/p>\n
Those promoting it
\nSeem to me
\nTo be
\nAgenda ridden, we
\nMust understand skin colour may
\nMatter how fair how tanned
\nWhat way<\/p>\n
Is right or wrong
\nDark or fair
\nThe instant look
\nIs how we share
\nWhat we have how when we smile
\nHow we act
\nOne needs a while<\/p>\n
Hearts and minds and souls
\nAre where
\nWhats inside
\nHow much care
\nJust how gentle
\nAnd aware
\nTone and colour
\nAre really what
\nunique about us
\nAnd a lot<\/p>\n
Of bollywood
\nIs about themselves
\nIt affects the women
\nBut if one delves
\ndeeper
\nInto the inner soul
\nAnd feels the vibrance
\nThen the role<\/p>\n
Is easier to contemplate
\nFor we all know
\nAnd can create
\nAn aura and a gleaming way
\nLike the petals on a summers day
\nDespite the breeze
\nDespite tHe dark
\nIf its meant my dears
\nWe will make our mark<\/p>\n
