{"id":47849,"date":"2020-09-21T20:53:52","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T20:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=47849"},"modified":"2020-09-21T21:25:15","modified_gmt":"2020-09-21T21:25:15","slug":"a-knock-on-the-door","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2020\/09\/a-knock-on-the-door\/","title":{"rendered":"A knock on the door"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was late it was dark<br \/>\nA matter of fact<br \/>\nI opened  the door<br \/>\nIt was hard to react<br \/>\nTo the sight there<br \/>\nBefore me<br \/>\nSo  tall<br \/>\nIt was cold<br \/>\nAnd Reality rolled<br \/>\nBefore me<br \/>\nNo eyes<br \/>\njust black holes I could see<br \/>\nHolding three dogs<br \/>\nEach on leads<br \/>\nOne was key<\/p>\n<p>It was  Helga<br \/>\nMy German Shepherd<br \/>\nWho\u2019d  died<br \/>\nSome years before<br \/>\nFlesh and blood<br \/>\nWas denied<br \/>\nA demon such evil<br \/>\nOut Past its  head<br \/>\nthe darkness enveloped<br \/>\nAnd my eyes were led<\/p>\n<p>To the baseless foundation<br \/>\nThe as yet unborn<br \/>\nWhat ceased to exist<br \/>\nWhat was suddenly torn<br \/>\nAn aching frostiness<br \/>\nDrifted to me<br \/>\nI felt that cold sweat<br \/>\nPhenomenally<br \/>\nIt was a phantom<br \/>\nFictitious and wrong<br \/>\nA gaseous creature<br \/>\nThat didnt belong<\/p>\n<p>Helga was panting<br \/>\nShe wanted to Feel<br \/>\nMe on her leash<br \/>\nBut Nothing  was real<br \/>\nAbout all of  this<br \/>\nUnreality<br \/>\nKnocked on my door<br \/>\nAn irrelevancy<br \/>\nI closed the door sharply<br \/>\nWanting Nothing to do<br \/>\nWith this apparition<br \/>\nThe consequence true<br \/>\nIntrusive And disparate<br \/>\nAbsorbed was I<br \/>\nAt the great negativity<br \/>\nThat now did lie<\/p>\n<p>It felt like an omen<br \/>\nA bad one at that<br \/>\nSane Alley stretched skywards<br \/>\nThats where I was at<br \/>\nThe hills in the distance<br \/>\nThe road outside black<br \/>\nI heard the dogs barking<br \/>\nAll three did attack<br \/>\nThe demon the oddness<br \/>\nThe colour of night<br \/>\nThe hoot of a barn owl<br \/>\nIt gave me such  a fright<\/p>\n<p>I was out by the bins<br \/>\nIn the morning and met<br \/>\nA women in grey<br \/>\nHer dog was set<br \/>\nFine, a red setter<br \/>\nPulled at the lead<br \/>\nShe\u2019d been over the fields<br \/>\nBoth seemed to need<br \/>\nThat spell, that exercise<br \/>\nWe smiled and she<br \/>\nSpoke of losing two dogs<br \/>\nBoth poisoned and we<br \/>\nFelt the disharmony<br \/>\nKnew the regret<br \/>\nI live at Number 15<br \/>\nWhat they had ate<br \/>\nI have no idea<br \/>\nbut they died in great pain<br \/>\nRolling over and  over<br \/>\nThey were insane<br \/>\nA deliberate horror<br \/>\nShe said to me<br \/>\nIts to do with the haunting<br \/>\nAnd walked off<br \/>\nTo see<br \/>\nAnd feel her remarks<br \/>\nAnd the dream I had  had<br \/>\nThe knock at the door<br \/>\nThat demon bad<br \/>\nWith my Dog Helga<br \/>\nWho clearly was there<br \/>\nTo be the Protector<br \/>\nHer spirit to  share <\/p>\n<p>I never saw her ever again<br \/>\nAnd when  there was a knock<br \/>\nAt The door I refrain<br \/>\nFrom getting up<br \/>\nLet them knock let them knock<br \/>\nLet them come back in the light<br \/>\nI Don\u2019t need a shock<br \/>\nWhat I saw<br \/>\nIt will never leave me<br \/>\nNow  that is  for sure<br \/>\nIts sockets were black<br \/>\nAnd just oozing with gore<br \/>\nThe vilest forbodings<br \/>\nOf that I was sure<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was late it was dark A matter of fact I opened the door It was hard to react To the sight there Before me So tall It was cold And Reality rolled Before me No eyes just black holes &hellip;
