The culture of a zoo
\nThe lack of understanding
\nThe torturous intent
\nWhere that in fact is landing
\nElephants are social souls
\nFamilial intent
\nInstinctive and impulsive
\nThe life time that\u2019s she\u2019s spent<\/p>\n
In that ghastly hell hole
\nIs going to resonate
\nShe\u2019s rejected spurned
\nAnd lonely
\nAnd For an Elephant that\u2019s not great
\nIs cruel it\u2019s really zoo like
\nA business so to say
\nAnd who sufferS in That Ailing world
\nThe victims, so to say<\/p>\n
And she\u2019s one of the victims
\nA lifetime on the scrap
\nA heap of non-acceptance
\nPassed over it\u2019s a trap
\nAnd that does beg the question
\nHow humanity does feel
\nRemoving souls from Gods earth
\nAnd caring for them for real<\/p>\n
Choice or discrimination
\nThat\u2019s the question here
\nAn elephant in solitary confinement
\nIt is clear
\nIt\u2019s wrong and zoo\u2019s they do this
\nAnd some game parks go it too
\nTheir stubbornness is terrible
\nBut sadly it isn\u2019t new<\/p>\n
There\u2019s others another Anne
\nIn Longleat in the U.K.
\nSadly living on her own too
\nAnd It is no way
\nAn elephant should live
\nI truly do agree
\nBut Asha and dear Anne
\nSomewhere they lost the key<\/p>\n
Asha clearly she is just a Prisoner
\nExpected to make rides
\nAnd clearly they
\nWill injure her she after all
\nIs just Not fit for purpose
\nHer legs cannot sustain that
\nThus she does pay<\/p>\n
A high price for imprisonment
\nAnd what I hear as well
\nThe zoo is run with no regard
\nIt really is a hell
\nLittle care and attention
\nDrinking water poor
\nRodents running roughshod
\nIt\u2019s infested and it\u2019s raw<\/p>\n
It\u2019s ugliness personified
\nWild ones shouldn\u2019t be
\nCaged in filth and infestation
\nZoo\u2019s should never see
\nAnd be Allowed to run as this one is
\nVirginia clearly they
\nPay animals a disservice
\nFor their angst they get away
\nThere really is no standard
\nNo thought of any care
\nNeglecting the prisoners
\nShows Just how unaware <\/p>\n
Humans can be and it\u2019s awful
\nIt\u2019s a gamble that doesn\u2019t pay
\nIt will never be a business
\nAbuse is just no way
\nFrom what I hear it\u2019s grossness
\nSpiteful wickedness
\nAnd to our wild animals
\nIt Is scandalous no less<\/p>\n
It sickens me to write about
\nThe evil I see here
\nThe agony these wild souls undergo
\nEach sheds a tear
\nHourly it\u2019s pathetic
\nYou call yourselves a zoo
\nYou stand upright as keepers
\nAnd this is what you do<\/p>\n
The lousiness the putrefaction
\nFlies and maggots everywhere
\nFeces in their feces
\nThey stand there is no wing or prayer
\nSmutty obscure and corrupt
\nThe order of each day
\nMatted muddy tarnished
\nAnd nothing they can say<\/p>\n
Their physical well being
\nPoor one just can see
\nLame of limb deficiencies
\nThe rotting food it be
\nCoupled with dirty drinking water
\nWeakness and infection
\nSuffering is widespread
\nWhich is a dereliction <\/p>\n
Collapse and ruination
\nOf life times caged and lost
\nTheir waking hours have atrophied
\nIt has been at a cost
\nHigher than most prisoners
\nWould ever want to pay
\nAnd Where there is no hope
\nMentally they pay<\/p>\n
Imagine this dear soul
\nAlone with thoughts all of them bad
\nLiving with the vermin
\nIt is entirely sad
\nShe be a proud old lady
\nSuffering so much
\nStricken by this life she has
\nAnd zoo keepers out of touch<\/p>\n
There is suffering and anguish
\nI feel it, from here
\nShe is deep in purgatory
\nLiving with her fear
\nIt\u2019s eternal damnation
\nHer tribulations great
\nShe\u2019s been made a scapegoat
\nShe feels It is her fate<\/p>\n
To rot here in this quagmire
\nAnxious and distressed
\nHeavy laden with all your ills
\nLong suffering obsessed
\nWith what is filth and ugliness
\nMaltreated through and through
\nFatigued careworn and woeful
\nIn whatever she does do<\/p>\n
As for the zoo and it\u2019s owners
\nThe displeasure that I feel
\nThe chagrin and the uneasiness
\nIt is hard to conceal
\nMy anger for those prisoners
\nYou are suppose to aid
\nThey have no ray of comfort
\nTheir lives now do seem paid<\/p>\n
Up and for the scrap heap
\nA dolefulness we see
\nA wretchedness the exhaustion
\nOf what is misery
\nCheerless and just comfortless
\nDrives the strong insane
\nSo prisoners as weak as these
\nAre under immense strain<\/p>\n
