A man fell in the forest
\nhis leg was broken bad
\nhe couldn’t walk
\nhe dare not shout
\nand he was very sad
\nto make a noise
\nhe thought
\nwould possibly
\nalert
\na beast
\ncould come and eat him
\na’lying in the dirt<\/p>\n
and so he remained
\nmotionless
\nand sleep did overcome
\nwaking he was so surprised
\nfor sitting around him some
\nanimals
\nbig earthlings
\nlittle earthlings too
\nthey’d come to try and help him
\nand see what they could do<\/p>\n
the deer said
\nlet me lick your wounds
\nthen sepsis won’t set in
\nthe lion said let me carry you
\nto the edge,
\ncome on,just grab my skin
\nthe snake said grab me
\ncome on grab me by the tail
\nI will help you too
\nwe’ll take the safest trail<\/p>\n
the animals were clearly moved
\nbut he wondered what they’d do
\nhe had been a hunter
\nYes his whole life through
\nhe had killed them with his gun
\ndressed up in his camouflage
\nand had lots of fun
\nand now so badly injured
\nthere he lay alone
\nbleeding in such agony
\nmore than he’d ever known<\/p>\n
he fell asleep a second time
\nand was woken by falling rain
\nhis leg was cleaned
\nand almost healed
\nand didn’t have as much pain
\nhe was lying near the road
\nthis dream he had had changed him
\nand no gun would he re load<\/p>\n
he became a photographer
\nand kept cats in his barn
\nbegan to write for animals<\/p>\n
