It was pleasantly warm
\nI had woken up early
\nExcited to travel
\nTo the RollRights alone
\nFor me it\u2019s a long way
\nWith my disablement
\nDiscounting the virus
\nAnd so I did say
\nI need to go early
\nAnd hopefully be
\nClose to the entrance
\nParking easily<\/p>\n
I arrived about one
\nTwo hours early to sit
\nOn my seat in the East
\nAnd get myself fit
\nThe light was fantastic
\nThe colours so clear
\nHuge banks of fireweed
\nOn The roadsides to cheer
\nThe Rose Bay Willow Herb
\nLikes calcareous soils
\nWhere soil is disturbed
\nIt magically toils
\nRecovering fauna and creating
\nNew ways
\nof attracting
\nPollinators and Flora
\nthat plays
\nIt\u2019s part in establishing
\nWildness to Share
\nWith its blossoms of pink
\nAnd to all those aware
\nIn Spring stems and leaves
\nAre edible they
\nAre real good in salads
\nPicked in fields far away
\nFrom the roadside
\nAnd contamination, be sure
\nRich in Vitamin C
\nSo one to adore<\/p>\n
It took me a while to set up
\nMy trolley
\nAnd slowly I walked
\nDown the path
\nAnd I saw
\nThe roll rights man
\nWho said we don\u2019t want you here
\nSmithsonian stars
\nJokingly seemingly
\nWas I from Mars!!<\/p>\n
I sat in the East
\nAnd got talking to people
\nThere were lots around
\nLots of picnics
\nAnd noise
\nI spoke to a couple from leamington spa
\nThe wife was from Wuhan
\nThey hadn\u2019t come far
\nBut thought it was fated
\nTo meet up with me
\nA mandarin speaker
\nAt ROLLRIGHTS, so we
\nTalked for an hour or so
\nAnd then some more
\nPeople were asking me
\nWhat was it for
\nLammas the ritual
\nWhen would it be
\nPossibly it should
\nhave been around three<\/p>\n
Looking down south
\nTo the rich fields of gold
\nI encouraged some children
\nand they seemed sold
\nOn counting the stones
\nAnd then telling me
\nAnd I kept a list
\nFor their parents to see
\nI told them the story
\nof the witch and the King
\nAnd his men turned to stone
\nand their eyes twinkling
\nEach time they counted
\nIt wasn\u2019t the same
\nThat was the magic
\nThat was my claim<\/p>\n
Then Robert came
\nWith his fancy hat
\nAnd Ollie turned up
\nSaid where we were at
\nThe ritual was cancelled
\nBut some might turn up
\nDebbie and Paul came
\nVeronica and Dave
\nDawn and her friend
\nSo we all had a rave<\/p>\n
There were very few left
\nJust a picnic or two
\nA lurcher dog wanting to play
\nAs they do
\nTossing a stick back and forwards
\nSo he
\nCould run, like the clappers
\nAmazingly<\/p>\n
All the while we had a troubadour
\nPlaying
\nHis mandolin gentle calming
\nPortraying
\nA minstrel with a longIsh white beard
\nand long hair
\nSerenading the Moles who had come
\nUp to share
\nThe music you knew that the goblins and sprites
\nHad emerged from the hollows
\nAnd were reaching our heights<\/p>\n
At about five
\nHaving been there four hours
\nOut in the sun
\nA bit burnt
\nAny powers
\nleft in me
\nThey Vanished I had to get going
\nGet my trolley back into my car
\nI was showing
\nSigns of exhaustion
\nAnd thought I had lost
\nMy wallet my cards
\nand my money
\nI tossed
\nIt all in the car
\nWith the help of an angel
\nOutside who helped me
\nA couple so sweet
\nBack home at seven
\nJust about able
\nTo get into the house
\nAnd have something to eat<\/p>\n
I never take a picnic when I am Alone
\nI can hardly manage myself<\/p>\n
Thanks to everyone who helped me
\nAnd to Debbie and Paul who offered me money
\nIn case I got stuck on the way home
\nAnd a drink of home made elderflower
\nWhich was wonderfully refreshing
\nI was just worried two hours in the car
