There was a time
\nwhen cows were all
\nin fields to ruminate
\nto feel the sunshine on their backs
\ntheir life in fact was great
\nbuttercups and daisies
\nclovers shepherds purse
\nfresh green grass
\nwas everywhere
\nbut my god it got worse<\/p>\n
the birth of supermarkets
\nexit the milkman who
\ndelivered milk
\nin bottles everyday to you
\nthe giants they took over
\nand the little man was gone
\nnow it was the corporate
\nthe giants the big con<\/p>\n
mega farms supplying
\nthe mega bloody store
\nfighting with each other
\non price
\nand a lot more
\nmargins hit and suddenly
\na brutal trade was born
\nout went the green fields
\nthat cows knew
\nin came the concrete
\ndawn<\/p>\n
no more sunshine
\non their backs
\nno more the fresh green
\nsward
\nconcrete stalls
\na vast great shed
\nand what we could afford<\/p>\n
Gm Soya, anti biotics
\nyea the new regime
\nand fresh green grass
\nof all of that
\nit just became a dream
\na nightmare
\na reality
\ntook over and we saw
\nmeasured scientific crap
\nbrought in and what is more<\/p>\n
cruelty personified
\nfor dairy cows who lay
\nin their faeces many of them
\nevery single day
\ncalves got short shrift
\ncaged up and then used for veal
\nor slaughtered by the butchers
\nfrom hell who did conceal<\/p>\n
their crimes from all and sundry
\nfor that is what they do
\nthe dairy cow is put upon
\nand most don’t have a clue
\nthey are crowded together
\nand do get stressed and lame
\nkilled off early
\nits all wrong
\nit just is not the same<\/p>\n
fighting over profits
\nand margins, the big boys
\nskull duggery a’ fore thought
\nmost don’t hear the noise
\nbut the victims are the animals
\nthat used to rightly roam
\nnow its concrete stalls
\nthat they must call their home<\/p>\n
its evil
\nits bound up in
\neconomics
\nthat is all
\nand the public gulp their white
\nstuff down
\nand ignorantly call<\/p>\n
for more and more
\nand get it
\nfrom the lovely superstore
\nwho has changed the life
\nof the sweet cow
\nperhaps for evermore<\/p>\n
but then they didn’t stop there
\nthe greed was in their heart
\nthen they got the cows to give
\nmuch more and to impart
\nmore of their natural freedom
\nmore for less the call
\nand started several processes
\nthat does affect us all<\/p>\n
and again it was about margin
\nand profit and the stuff
\nthe bankers saw as important
\nthey never had enough
\nprocesses were brought in
\nto extend the products life
\nwhich has denatured the white stuff
\nand caused us all more strife<\/p>\n
in America Monsanto a giant
\nthey could see
\nthat they could really control us all
\nand the markets too now be
\nbeholden to the leader
\nthe recombitant brigade
\nwho have introduced the franken cows
\nand of course we all have played<\/p>\n
into their vast fortunes
\nand gone for broke where they
\nplay down the threats of long term loss
\nand anatomical decay
\nthe cows are the victims
\ntheir lives have been curtailed
\ntheir stress levels have soared
\ninto the sky
\ntheir health has paled
\ninto no significance
\nand their by product we see
\nis methane
\nand global warming
\ndown to the factory
\nthe natural world is reeling
\nthe cow’s put down and left
\ndowntrodden and forgotten
