To have the courage
\nOf ones convictions
\nCan be hard to do
\nOne soul 13 years ago
\nPassed
\nOne of the few
\nVEgans who was on the case
\nOf caring for animals, he
\nDespite his Spina Bifida
\nHe was fearless actually<\/p>\n
In the latter years
\nA hospital bed
\nBut he campaigned all the way
\nDespite his pain and difficulties
\nHe was at it every day
\nHis enterprise and tenacity
\nHis audacious bravery
\nHe put other vegans
\nIn the dark Campaigning earnestly<\/p>\n
He was 49 when he passed
\nA young man still it\u2019s true
\nBut he packed in all those years he had
\nA lot of fight his view
\nWas write and write and telephone
\nAnd campaign where he could
\nSign petitions go on front lines
\nEvery time he could<\/p>\n
It takes a heap of courage
\nWhen pain is everyday
\nUsing public transport
\nIsn\u2019t the best way
\nIt\u2019s hard and it\u2019s uncomfortable
\nAnd yes, it\u2019s pricey too
\nSo again Neil was a champion
\nHe just knew what to do<\/p>\n
What was special about Neil Lea
\nWas he felt their despairing they
\nThey were going through
\nAnd was up to it
\nFighting night and day
\n13 years ago
\nNot much of internet stuff he
\nDid Whatever he could to help
\nAn aspirant you see<\/p>\n
Imaginative and propitious
\nHis hopes were always high
\nHe knew whatever he did for animals
\nWas good and he Would try
\nTo always fill in petitions
\nNo matter how tired he was
\nHe kept his sense of humour
\nReally that was because<\/p>\n
It helped to get him through things
\nTheir wailing he would hear
\nHe really felt their agony
\nFor him it all was clear
\nHe was buoyant and was spirited
\nWhich helped the cause for he
\nWill always be remembered
\nBy those who knew he Would be<\/p>\n
With the angels carrying on
\nThe good fight till today
\nHe was one of those blokes
\nYou knew
\nWould really make our day
\nSadly he was taken
\nAnd it has been 13 years
\nWe remember him with joy
\nAnd love, and of course some
\nGentle Tears<\/p>\n
