There have been too many bodies
\nFound recently we hear
\nIn Seronga and Eretsha
\nTo me it all seems clear
\nThe latest story posted
\nIs it\u2019s poisoning despite
\nThe stories that it isn\u2019t
\nThere are warnings of the blight<\/p>\n
And local people are being told
\nDon\u2019t touch the meat and so
\nThat\u2019s another reason why
\nThe death toll is seen to grow
\nPoisoning The farmers
\nSee conflict everyday
\nRains have been abundant
\nBut it\u2019s crops I think that play
\nA part in all this carnage
\nAnd Botswana seems to feel
\nThat its herds are growing bigger
\nAnd hunting can be real<\/p>\n
And so are issuing licences
\nTo come and shoot to kill
\nGet the hunters over the elephant blood to spill
\nThis is what they think of wild life
\nMoney in their bank
\nGifted by creation
\nAnd this is how they thank
\nThe gods on high for elephants
\nAnd Rhino\u2019s really too
\nMany have been murdered
\nBy poachers who took the view
\nDuring corvid lockdown
\nThey could rule the roost
\nAnd may have poisoned the elephants
\nAnd of course got a boost<\/p>\n
On horns whilst they were de horn ing
\nIt Was going on they thought
\nBest get in there quick
\nAnd take our spoils
\nAnd so they sought
\nA period when rangers
\nMany stayed away
\nLocked down by the corvid scares
\nNo one to save the day<\/p>\n
It seems they have ruled out ANTHRAX
\nAnd personally I think
\nIt\u2019s a combination of poaching
\nAnd hunting and the link
\nIs shooting for the sake of it
\nWhat they ought to do
\nIs some examination and autopsies
\nThat\u2019s my view<\/p>\n
If they will come for RHINO\u2019s
\nWhy pay licenses when they can sit around
\nAnd shoot elephants
\nThere that is a way
\nTarget practice possibly
\nCoupled with poisoning too
\nBotswana better realise
\nThat their count may not be true<\/p>\n
Every soul is precious
\nLetting the hunters ply
\nTo me is worse than useless
\nWhy any souls should die
\nThere is water and there is food enough
\nThe wild ones they can share
\nMaking excuses and giving out permits
