We are really
\nsuch a bunch
\nof pitiful laggards
\nbefore we came
\nothers lived this land
\nthe wilderness their backyard
\nyes their lives were very hard
\nbut guardians they were and
\nto understand
\nthe indigenous first people
\nof all nations
\nwe should extend our loving
\nhearts, but we
\nignore them
\nwe avoid them
\nare we envious of them?
\nor is it that we’re not prepared

what they did
\nand how they feel about
\nwhat they all did
\nwe’ve moved on, and
\nthey
\nwhere are they now?
\nits our ignorance and arrogance
\n2 simple little words
\nbut wisdom how they had it
\nand they still have it

but alienated many of them
\nmisunderstood and left
\nseparated from their lives
\nfeeling quite bereft
\nof love, that they had given
\nto the world around their eyes
