\nThe audaciousness of now
\na women who believed
\nAnd who achieved
\nReally now how
\nAnyone can reasonably
\nPass a law that states
\nThat We may transport pigs
\nFrom farm to The slaughterhouse
\nGates
\nWith no true care
\nNo Fresh water
\nWith fear upper most
\nIn their minds
\nShe was sure
\nThe need was for
\nTo actually draw fresh lines<\/p>\n
FEARMANS PARK a slaughterhouse
\nFacility where they
\nWould have been feeling thirsty
\nIn what was a very hot day
\nPigs do not have sweat glands
\nTheir need is to be cool
\nSo bunched together in a truck
\nFor me does break a rule<\/p>\n
Of duty of care for animals
\nGoing there to die
\nBegrudging them some water
\nPuts compassion at a high
\nAnd Regan as an activist
\nA caring thoughtful soul
\nPrepared to offer water
\nIt was an angels role<\/p>\n
As activists on front line duty
\nWe are often at a point
\nThe need the screams we hear them
\nAnd feel we must annoint
\nGive some of them empathy
\nA little bit of care
\nDeath is of course final
\nSo it helps when we are aware<\/p>\n
The recent ag gag bill just passed
\nIs an \u201cevil\u201d her words, she
\nFelt this deep inside her heart
\nAnd was on Patrol to see
\nThe victims, hear their feelings
\ntheir hot breaths on her hand
\nRegan took it on herself
\nTo try and understand<\/p>\n
A looming truck packed full
\nOf Pigs
\nA wagon full of fear
\nThe dread and awe is omnipresent
\nThat is surely clear
\nMisgivings, we have many
\nMistrust and disquiet
\nYou feel your own hands shivering
\nIt\u2019s Happening in plain sight<\/p>\n
She gave her life, regrettably
\nToronto Pig Save was
\nSomething she was sincere about
\nAnd that was just because
\nIn this day and age
\nFarm animals get an awful time
\nAnd at her age she knew more so than most
\nThat it is a crime<\/p>\n
She was resolute a heroine
\nThe bravest of the brave
\nUnbowed by laws and stringency
\nShe just wanted to save
\nPigs, she felt their agony
\nShe became close to their need
\nSpirited and daring
\nShe just had To succeed<\/p>\n
Many lives were lost that day
\nAnd Regan lost hers too
\nAnimal Rights Are important
\nThe abuse we put them through
\nReally is appalling
\nAnd Regan felt that strife
\nShe was there, an angel if you like
\nAnd gave her life<\/p>\n
To a cause that some may frown Upon
\nThe consumers of roast pork
\nBut Regan stood there purposefully
\nAnd watched them like a Hawk
\nShe gave them time and commitment
\nShe admired them from the off
\nPacked tightly together
\nWith nothing in their trough<\/p>\n
My heart goes out to activists
\nFighting everywhere
\nEvery cause in all weathers
\nThey share so much despair
\nThey know the vain and suffering
\nThe torture they are put through
\nAnd are willing to lay their own lives down
\nDoing what they need to do.<\/p>\n
