Human beings studying the wild souls
\nSometimes they
\nCome up with fresh new ideas
\nThat blow wildness away
\nCharles Darwin talked
\nOf domestication syndrome
\nAnd we hear that foxes
\nThat are now city dwellers
\nApparently it\u2019s clear
\nThey go through anatomical change
\nTheir brains Re smaller they
\nAnd their jaws too
\nAre though similar
\nHave different jobs to do<\/p>\n
The urban fox is rooting around
\nDustbins for his food
\nFrequenting peoples gardens
\nThey do have to be clued up
\nWith where the wild souls are
\nBut in the wilds we know
\nThe food has to be run down
\nAnd their wily ways they grow<\/p>\n
Man has got that arrogance
\nImagining he knows
\nBy testing different foxes heads
\nAnd hoping that they show
\nThis remarkable difference
\nIt\u2019s down to man of course
\nHabitat loss through housing
\nApparently does force<\/p>\n
The wild ones into gardens
\nInto dustbin searching they
\nDon\u2019t need the brain of their cousins
\nIn the wild or so they say
\nMy idea is different
\nFoxes are aware
\nThey are dealing with the digital set
\nWhose knowledge just isn\u2019t there
\nAs to wildness few observe
\nAnd so brIns don\u2019t have to be
\nBig and rather cumbersome
\nWhen smaller works, you see
\nIt\u2019s a bit like computers
\nOne they were first made
\nThey were the size of motor cars
\nBut now of course the trade
\nIs getting ever smaller
\nWith even bigger brains
\nSo I prefer this notion
\nAnd why the fox still gains<\/p>\n
Advantage over humans
\nKeyed up in the sphere
\nBut have lost the power of reasoning
\nWhen the wild ones do appear
\nSmithsonian had written up
\nThe story though for me
\nI think foxes are brilliant
\nAnd that they will always be<\/p>\n
Free ranging and wildness
\nWill be an integral part
\nSniffing around our dustbins
\nSurely isn\u2019t heart
\nWildness in the forest catching
\nNocturnal life
\nRunning it down is more favourable
\nThan dealing with the strife<\/p>\n
Of pest control and shooters
\nBaiting everywhere
\nAnd hanging out a window
\nWith a rifle and a prayer
\nWild souls need to know the facts
\nStay will do not adapt
\nTo humans who are arrogant
