\nShe was grazing
\nAnd seemingly we heard
\nA crocodile leapt towards her
\nAnd sadly what occurred
\nWas it took a huge chunk
\nOut of her
\nBefore she pulled away
\nSuffering a massive wound
\nOn that tragic day<\/p>\n
We were called to see her
\nAnd couldn\u2019t believe our eyes
\nShe was resting peacefully
\nIt was hard to realise
\nThe extent of wound
\nShe had suffered
\nBut somehow in repose
\nSat there on the stoney path
\nWhich really and honestly shows<\/p>\n
The inner strength of ungulates
\nWe talked to her and she
\nCame with us in a truck
\nTo hospital and we
\nSedated her and cleaned her wound
\nDeep seated grossly so
\nGave lots of pats and love
\nWe wanted her to know<\/p>\n
We loved her and we would care for her
\nBandaged her and she
\nWas calm and always gentle
\nShe never once cried actually
\nThough she must have been in great pain
\nSuffering but she
\nRemained in quiet repose
\nThroughout the days
\nHeroically<\/p>\n
Lots of reassurance
\nLots of love and care
\nthat\u2019s what healing is about
\nAnd we had lots to share
\nOn the 15 5h day
\nHer wound was healing
\nBut still had a way to go
\nBut she remained so grateful
\nAnd appreciative and so<\/p>\n
On the 50th dressing changed
\nEvery day and she
\nWas standing up still getting love
\nFrom all of us
\nAnd we
\nCould see the wound was healing
\nFrom the inside out
\nWe knew
\nShe was on the mend now
\nAnd after six months
\nTo view<\/p>\n
Her you wouldn\u2019t have thought it possible
\nHer scar of course was there
\nBut healing had been slow and sure
\nAnd she was so aware
\nWe had used a lot of bandages
\nAnd given a lot of care
\nBut \u201cEmma\u201d was a joy to have<\/p>\n
And we learned a lot<\/p>\n
